Worst/most hated band ever?

Well said, actual musicians with a sound of thier own.

A sound of their own? They rip off loads of funk groups, they're horrible. I actually hate Flea, he's just such a fucking tool and the way he plays his bass makes me feel physically sick, he's there twanging it round looking like a less cool anus than the singer in Level 42.

They're, possibly, my most loathed band of all time, seriously.

Great. I'm not going to be offended or get into it.

Flea's nothing like Mark King... Mark King, having played bass myself, i absolutely hate... lets slap as fast as possible mush any melody or harmony into white noise.

Earlier on they used bass lines that were similar to Bootsy Colins but there's not many funk bands that sound like RHCP: ToP? The Meters? Its a differnet kind of funk; slower with more of a grind.

Who cares what you "look" like when your playing music? If you're into it and enjoying yourself; act howevers natural.

You are a tad harsh on them my darling.

They just wind me up, from the whole gurning thing, I have a real problem with American bands who gurn in general anyway, to their general air of 'look at us...we're mad!'.

Their music is pretty bland and formulaic, you've heard all their songs if you've heard one. I just hate them, I don't know what it is but they really turn my stomach.

There was a black band from the 80's/90's that sounded a lot like them, they did a tune with Public Enemy, I really can't remember their name now but think it included the word 'Color'.

It's their whole frat boy thing too, not my bag.
Living Color.

Maybe even Fishbone.

Just not my thing, I really, really hate them and don't know why although I have listed a lot of reasons elsewhere.

Frusciante has admitting using RHCP to fund his other projects which are far more interesting, IMO they are all great muscians and the band is ruined by Kiedis with his inabilitly to sing or write decent lyrics!

Check out 'Shadow's Collide with People' or 'Curtains' by Frusciante.

I think it was Living Color yeah, although now you've mentioned Fishbone it could have been them too although I'm not sure. They had a kind of slap bass, funk light thing going on similar to RHCP though if I recall rightly.

Haha, what a load of utter shite.

You really want to compare something like "Naked in the Rain" to "Dosed"? Or even Apache Helicopter to Under the Bridge... completely different and on the same album.

Their song structures aren't formulaic either... sounds like you've not even bothered listening to RHCP since '93.

agree with TMQ, listen to the song "ask" and tell me thats a dreary, depressing song.

hard to point out one particular band, but one band that I hate that everyone else seems to like is pink floyd.

There's nothing depressing about The Smiths. Fair enough, if people don't like them that's cool but I've never got the 'depressing' thing, yeah there's some harsh truths in the lyrics you won't find in other bands but that's just how it goes.

I've never got Pink Floyd, they're the one band everyone assumes I must love but they've always left me cold, I like Syd Barrett's solo stuff and quite liked Piper At The Gates Of Dawn or whatever it's called but the rest of it just seemed like middle class southerners poncing about with expensive studio tools or something.

i think its morrisey's lyrics people dont like and also because he isn't a fantastic singer thats why they are percieved as depressing. I must admit, i was never a big fan of morrisey when i started listening to the smiths (it was johnny marr who i was more interested in) but as i listened to them more often, i started to gather an understanding about his lyrics and what they were about, and as a result i've grown to like morrisey.

I used to work in a record shop so I'm quite familiar with a lot of their later stuff, By The Way and all that, every song sounded the same. Perhaps they sounded different prior to All Saints breaking them in the UK ( :) ) but still, I can not stand them. They just push all the wrong buttons inside of me.

Johnny Marr is talent immense, he's a fucking God of a man!

As for Mozza, he's a great singer, different and unique but great all the same!

Flea is one of the most over rated bass players around... but he's still a top top player. Its one thing to copy some of his lines, but how he's come up with them is another matter all together.

Frusciante is great musician, a real 'student' of music... i know a lot of people who don't like his style but i love his guitar solo's... its the main thing thats kept me listening to a few tracks off SA.

I like Chad Smith's drumming too... powerfull and with a deep groove.
