Seeing my friends baby pass in their arms at the hospital chapel was also pretty gauling

I watched a TV programme where a father held their new born baby as it died. That was the worst thing I'd seen and I ran out of the room crying. Little did I know I'd be doing the same thing myself a few years later.

Finding my girlfriend, 41, dead on the floor at her house six years ago will take some beating. Had dropped her off the afternoon before with no signs of anything being wrong. Tracing things back, she’d been dead about 18 hours, so a couple of hours after I dropped her off.

Think it would have been over very quickly.

Something like that will never leave you and it reinforces just how fragile and precious life is.
