would everyone want an 'easier' group or a group of 'death'

Ideally...

Bayern Munich (German fans will create a cracking atmosphere)
AC Milan (I bet they hate us - we are what they were)
Dinamo Zagbreb (presuming their fans would be cool too)

Hamburg and Poznan have left me thinking that European football is as much about the atmoshere between fans as it is the results. I hope we do well on the pitch obviously but I want the fans to enjoy the experience. I wasn't too crazy about the Poznan at first but now I think it's been better for our PR than any top name signing. As soon as you start getting in to it, you just can't stop laughing. It's mental. If we keep improving the atmosphere we'll gather up more fans, in Manchester and beyond. (think of all the kids attracted to United for the "glory" instead choosing city for the "buzz")

Nasri was right. There are few if any better fans at the moment in the Premiership. Years ago you could argue that many clubs had fantastic fans - but these days there are very few... maybe Stoke and then I struggle. Only a few years ago COMS was like a funeral home. Now because of Europe and goals there's a real buzz. We need this to keep growing. Really hope whoever we play are up for a laugh in the stands!!! :-)

Considering we are probably the strongest third seed going , our group will be the hardest . I would like us to draw the big guns , because I think we can take em and then announce that we are one of the world's elite. Bring it on !

Barcelona plus any other two.

Not out of bravado, but sound reasoning:-

1) If we get Barca we get two "practise" games against them in the group stage.

2) We can still qualify by finishing 2nd, and we avoid them in the round of 16.

3) It may be the best way of getting to the quarter finals at least.

likely whatever group we get will be dubbed "The Group Of Death" since we are markedly tougher than a Pot 3 team would be under the usual run of things...

Easier definitely :)

-- Thu Aug 25, 2011 3:10 pm --

There won't be any walkovers in the Champions League ..... we'll just have to take it as it comes , we'll either be good enough to cope or we won't !

There are some walkovers in Pot 4 but generally speaking you are right. Our best chance of winning a group rests on us avoiding Barca and Real. We'd have a chance of topping a group with Inter, Porto, or Bayern in it I believe.

Dont think any single team even pot 4 are walkovers. Alot, like us, will be here for the 1st time and really up for it.

We all know that Utd will have the easiest group as they usually do but i see us as the team other teams do not want, as we are in pot 3 which really makes the group we are in open.

Really dont mind who we get but we know as we cant get the 3 other PL teams, we will get 1 massive name from Pot 1.
Just 1st game at home i am hoping for. Hearing the CL music for the 1st ever time to kick us off would be great

Group of death. We've got the squad. Let's prove to the anti City brigade that we have returned to terrorize Europe and that we are the real deal.
