Never knew Lewis Collins could of been the beatles drummer
I think what people have to realise is that Ringo became the first "famous in his own right" drummer. Back in the 60s all the groups had drummers but nobody knew their names unless you sought out the info, nobody knew the names of drummers in bands like The Hollies, The Searchers, The Yardbirds, Animals etc etc.Ha ha
I have to say though (as a non fan of the beatles) I love Ringo's "Photograph"
LoLRingo was a shite drummer. His name has carried him
Got it in one.He was unorthodox, which was absolutely perfect for the Beatles.
Dave Grohl called Ringo the greatest “feel” drummer in the world (“Ringo was the king of feel”) and, alluding to pretty much the same thing, Jim Keltner said he was the greatest at just sitting in a song and coming up with the perfect part for that song. He might not have been technically proficient in the manner of powerhouses like Jon Bonham or Clem Burke, but the acid test is can you think of a Beatles song that would have been improved by having a different drummer, and the answer is ‘no’. He was a human metronome and endlessly inventiveLoL
If you really want to hear a shite drummer, listen to the recordings (at Decca) with Pete Best on drums. Or Pete's drumming on Love Me Do on their EMI audition.
Got it in one.
