I definitely think this will be the formation, same as Brazil's and the 06 Italy team which won the world cup.

Nah Silva aint an out and out striker - either a winger or behind the striker are his best position - he is best running at people.

Yup but the vogue is two "holding midfield players" as demonstrated by the world cup teams and top European clubs - however the two holding midfield players are not just destructive they are able to pass and are expected to be box to box types.

For that reason its a 4 2 3 1 or 4 3 3 but i hate 4 3 3 because very often you lose the midfield battle and ultimately the game and a 4 4 2 will very often lose to a 4 5 1.

it's got more balance. 2 good keepers, stocky defence, tough tacklers, a choice of midfield link up players in Ireland, Barry and Yaya [although he's more defensively minded]. a tall front man and a world-class work horse. as well as a good choice of wide men.

The rumors of Dzeko coming though would be consistent with the statement from this article which suggests that he sometimes uses 2 big men up front and also that he uses a 3 man combative midfield and suggests that Yaya Toure would be a target for this reason.
