It is even easier to wish for a safe option and to shy away from this fixture.
My point (and I made this in a later post) is ultimately why do we follow this football team?
Ultimately it has to be to see them win. Yes there are a whole number of other things we get out of it, but at the end of the day that is what makes us happy, just as losing makes us sad.
And when I said 'man up' I meant (and mean) that in life people who are the best relish the biggest challenges and rise to them.
Do you think the best surgeons are happy doing hip replacements or do you think they would much prefer heart transplants?
Do you think the best barristers like doing shoplifting cases or do you reckon they prefer murder trials?
Do you think the best pilots prefer to fly a Boeing 737 or 747?
That is what I meant when I said 'man up'. The difference now is that we can deliver. I'm not saying we will, but we can. Surely that's got to be worth the risk?
Are we going to be the surgeon who's happy doing hip replacements all his life in case he loses a patient in a heart transplant? Given the resources now at our disposal to answer no to that would be absurd and spineless.
Fucking bring it on!!!
A classic post from a couple of years back just before our Semi Final against them. It shouldn't take most of you too long to work out who posted it; and if you dont guess it - I am sure he will be along soon enough to blow his own Trumpet ..)
Anybody who is naturally shallow, spineless and lacking in moral fibre like me can take comfort in these words.
