WSL Arsenal (H) 02/02/25 KO 12:00

No wonder Kelly fucked off.
Who wants to play for a loser like Taylor.
Seen a picture today of the England women squad, and it had the WSL club badge next to the player. City had 3 ,Hemp, Greenwood & Park. But had more ex-City player, Bronze, Walsh, Esme Morgan and Stanway, with 3 of those coming through City's youth team !
The team/squad we could/should of had !

You know after losing badly at home to Utd you'd think he would coach the team to be tougher to beat. Another gift wrapped start and I have to look at the entire back four as well as the keeper today. Again Villa -despite gifting them goal as well - we looked a little more solid as Yama didn't dwell so much on the ball. Keating charged out of goal at least five times today and needs a spell away - There are problems with this team when it comes to big games.

A coach has to be capable of making big calls but he wants to rotate keepers when we are missing the one player that can organise the back line. In other words he doesn't know his best lineup and now we have Yui, Jill & Laia looking half the players we know they are.

This is a pivotal result and all 3 teams above us are now high on confidence and will not drop many points. I cannot see us getting through a touch CL tie and it probably means no CL next season which will not help keep our best players.

That's two big home games where we have failed to get a result and let in 8 goals - It's time for Theresa to bring in a more progressive coach - Taylor is toast.

There doesn't seem to be anyone with leadership skills in our back 4. Why isbt the keeper bossing them around? Who's the centre back screaming at them to stay tight, drop back, hold the line, etc?

Great post sums it really. Such a waste seeing talented players like these being mismanaged. Look at Aleixandri today, a future Spanish captain and outstanding defender must be wondering 'what the hell am I doing here' . No doubt she'll be Barcelona bound at the end of the season. I could go on about other players loss of form but I'll be here all night.

Apart from the 2 CB's there's not a player in the team with an ounce of defensive awareness (and sometimes I even wonder about them). We play a risk based possession game but it so often falls apart against the better teams because we just vacate the middle of the pitch far too early. So when we lose possession it is just so easy for the opposition to find a forward pass and if they have runners who can time their movements we don't have the pace to catch them.
I'm afraid that the current captain, Aleixandri, is far from having defensive awareness. Ball watches continously and so slow to realise where our weakness are.
It's possibly too easy to criticise that our poorest defenders are Spanish. Lovely ball players, but are not of any use when we don't have the ball.
Not that we have any more awareness, or strength in front of them, however our principal weakness is route 1 balls over the top of our back 4, and of course the bloody stupid passing permutations that come from our goalkeepers.

Very poor defensive display by both teams it has to be said. Don't think I have ever seen Alexandria play so poorly but she was awful today. It might have been a good idea to play a midfield in a game like this, only Hasegawa comes out with any credit.
We are fair too soft in the tackle and it is ridiculously easy to shove us off the ball.
They were much better organized and forward thinking. When they won the ball up the field they went. We generally passed to the side or back to Keating. We also seem to play the game in isolation, as though there is no other team on the pitch and as such are constantly caught out in possession.
A very disappointing and damaging result for us.

Yep - You know after the Utd result any decent coach would look at it - play our wide players really wide and tell the defenders to for once go longer, quicker. It was plain to see it that Aoba and Mary were playing well yet he stuck to his principal of backwards, sideways, invite the press and without Alex that is plain stupid - that is reason enough for him to be gone by tomorrow but he will talk about how we are missing players, how for spells we looked good but it's a results business and he is and always has been a failure.

I won't say that the ladies chucked what on 90mins looked just as winnable after thirty seconds, but they gave it a bit of a heave.

The tactics might be alright against the bottom four but anyone else is given all the time in the world. At one point no Arsette was moving 'cos they didn't need to - we were taking a season's Fergie time getting the ball up to the half way line.

Defence was frail and the Arse wingers were given the freedom of the borough. I thought at one point they would usher a flock of sheep over the halfway line.

Positives - good pen from Mary, neat finish from Viv. Oh, and Kerolin looks just the player we need. Beat five Arsettes at one point.

He made the wrong sub - Roord should have been the one to go off not Miedema, who was again having a great game. Clueless
Spot on this. I thought Roord was supposed to be the big game player to win our team big games - once again she was largely anonymous. Hugely disappointing.

Interestingly our best player was Fujino -
Playing in the very spot "superstar in her own mind" Kelly thinks she should be occupying.
