Prediction of Taylor’s post-match interview comments:
“Thought the players acquitted themselves well under difficult circumstances and finished out a very successful season. We have improved over the last campaign, and missing out on the league is obviously disappointing, but we can take a lot of satisfaction on how we ran Chelsea close to the final day. I believe the team’s performance this season has surpassed all expectations and I am very proud to be their manager. We’ll take some time to recharge in the off-season and then come back to fight for the title—though, ultimately fall short again—next season, and I will class that as a success, as well. As long as we are in the mix, that is good enough for me. Trophies aren’t everything in the end. Just look at Klopp and Liverpool—that’s the setup we want to emulate here with the women’s team: culture of nearly winning and all the while grinning. That’s my aim and am very glad to be given an extension to realise my vision. Oh, and glad Houghton is fucking off with her “winning is what matters at this level” nonsense. Last thing we need is someone that thinks we have failed when we throw away the league. Second is just as good as first, if not better! That’s the Liv… err, I mean the City way!”
