WSL Brighton (H) 29/09/24

We made hard work of that today. The first half was a continuation of the midweek game, there was an awful lot of faffing about with sideways and backwards passing ignoring a forward ball.
The second half saw some improvement but our shooting really is terrible.
Taylor waited far too long to make changes.

That's the difference between us and Chelsea, Our finishing is really poor and it will cost us big time
Brighton are a good team and looked like they were going to score on the break and take a point because the lack of finishing, We got away with it today and got over the line, but we have to improve on finishing and kill the game so we can control how we use the squad and rest players in a very big season

Couldn't agree more! Midfield never got to grips with the game and the good chances that came our way were poorly executed - Bunny had a heading chance in the first half and got nowt on it, Jess had the goal at her mercy in the second half and despite having a not so tall Brighton keeper her chip barely got into the atmosphere, and Mary could have rolled one into basically an open net and ballooned it over the bar. Hemp was her usual dynamic self but that was about it. Defence held this season and the 85 min concession came 'n went. Subs needed to come on much earlier. Did our goalie break a WSL record for collecting the number of backpasses. Oh, and the lino on the East Stand side was a shocker.

Ha ha ha, yes that lino got an awful lot of grief from E3. At one point players from both sides just looked completely bemused by one of his offside decisions.
Something really has to be done about the ack of composure in front of goal though.

I've just watched the highlights on the BBC and apparently the points today are the first we've got. Did The Arse take all the points in that 2-2 draw?
 
We could and should have put that game to bed on a number of occasions . Brighton offered little up front, especially after their triple attacking substitution in the second half , but any team with Fran Kirby in the pockets can sneak a goal. Happier with our work on the wings today than Thursday .Nice Cumberland sausage bap before the match
