Wtf Britain...?

Been to a few villas in Spain where there's a cupboard above the sink for crockery - it has the rack built in and no bottom, so you wash the pots and put them straight into the cupboard to drain over the sink. Genius and I'd do it at home if the misses would let me brick the kitchen window up.

As for rinsing them before the drainer, where exactly? Or am I supposed to leave the hot water running the entire time I'm washing up, which is definitely the idea of someone who doesn't pay for their own gas or water.

Besides, during COVID they were explaining to us how soap kills bacteria yet now we need to get a different sanitising spray after washing them? Wonder who sponsored that science

What...?!! Sacrilege!!

Pots in soapy hot water. Scrub clean with soapy scourer. Rinse soap off with COLD water. Leave on rack to drain.

60 mins to dry!

Clean and healthy to eat off!!

Always found dishwashers to be a right faff, think they are a proper lazy bastard invention in domestic kitchens. Always found the easiest way is to clean as you go while cooking then you just have the plates and cutlery when you've finished dinner. Fill a plastic tub with hot soapy water to wash in then have cold water running to rinse. Leave on the rack to dry. Job done.

So I'm going to wash everything, put it on the rack (which it often won't fit in one go) then take it off to run under cold water before putting it back on the rack? Or am I supposed to run cold water into the bowl whilst trying to wash up?

I fill a plastic tub a bit smaller than the sink with hot soapy water then put it inside the sink so you can run the cold tap down the side and rinse off after washing. Also stops the sink getting scratched by cutlery if that's an issue.

Is the correct answer.
I used to work with a old dear in the kitchens and that was her motto 'clean as you go'

I, also, learned this from an Old Dear... My Ma!!

Even before I got my own and bought a rack (a luxury), the art of stacking crockery is very useful!

Stacking on my rack, leaving an airflow for drying, is something I brought from home.

When I'm cooking up a feast, it's not an issue for finding space after!

Are you cooking for 50 people or live in a tiny Wendy house...?
Neither, but if you've got a couple of glasses, couple of pans, colander, chopping board etc, it's difficult to get it to fit in one go. Still, I've made it 50+ years without ever rinsing crockery after washing it, so I'm calling BS on the whole thing

Always fought against Mrs Moon wanting a dishwasher on costs, kitchen space, washing up not taking long to do etc.

Having had a new kitchen fitted 2 weeks ago I can confirm that they're the best thing ever invented, as I said above we didn't have any spare space until the kitchen was taken back to brick but I still didn't really want one....boy was I wrong.

Having had one for 25+ years, I couldn't do without one.

I've never had a dishwasher in my life ..... i wash any dishes and pots i use, and how fast I do them usually depends on what I'm watching on the telly, what time i'm going out, or whether the missus has unexpectedly honuored her promise to give me a leg over!

And if I'm in a rush, or City are on the telly, there isn't a dishwashing machine in the land that can live with me for pace !

When I worked at the airport in catering the potwash area was basically a muddy water rinsing machine. Surprised me what you could clean dishes with, they came out clean though.
