phone microsoft it happend to me and they sorted it

I have got an xbox 360 that when switched on for any more than 10 mis the fan surges and 2 red rings appears and the bastard switches off,
any ideas who, what how to fix this before i throw it at the fucking dog, and she wont like that cos shes washing the pots !!

Not good mate, lots of known probs with overheating, i had the same.

If it's under warrenty contact microsoft, they will repair or replace free of charge.

I think it's an expensive fix if you try to get it done.

what happenes is it overheats and when you turn it off the sudden change in temperature dissconnects the power wire.

so

1st option: send into x-box for a pre-defined fee

2nd option: this is what i did, wrap it up in towels so it overheats again, this causes the power wire to reactivate causing the x-box to work again (note that it has a 5% chance of ruining your x-box by welding multiple wires together to make it short circuit)

No worries mate, out of interest the new gen have been fixed by microsoft so should have no probs with the overheating but you can buy third part clip on cooling units that do a great job, it will cost you but its better than a fried x-box

to repair it isnt that much just not certain it will work.. as my partner tried it on his mates n it was a waste of money buying the stuff to fix it... best sending it back to manafactures or to the shop u got it from.

If you've had it less than 3 years you can send it back to Microsoft and they'll repair it under warranty. Standard on this as its a common fault. Go on X-box website and they give you instructions on how to do it. They told me 3 weeks but it was back in 1
