You need to get him one of these ....

Trust me I had a go in one last week and it's possibly the best gaming experience I have ever had !! Was playing COD MW2 and was allowed in for 3 minutes at a time . Every time they opened the door nobody else was waiting to have a go so I just stayed in for about 1/2 hour !!

As to what you really should get him ... 360 with Kinect . My 6 year old cousin is mad for it when he comes round and wears him out in no time . Cheaper option is Wii but will only last 12 months or so !!

Xbox 360 with kinnect like a few others have suggested, great fun. It is more interactive and better than just using your hands.

I always say PS3 is the more mature gamers console of choice.
Xbox's are what school kids and spotty little freeloading students have.

Your lad is in neither category! ;-)

What about a little handheld, a DS or something?

LOL what a mature post.

In all seriousness, for a lad of that age I would recommend a wii or even a second hand ps2 (plenty of good childrens games to be had at a cheap price)

Original poster, when asking people here what you should get, their answer will simply be what they have. Bloody fanboys...........get an xbox ;)

All of them have great features, though for the needs you've mentioned I would have to agree with others, a Wii would be best, you could get one with Mario Kart for under £100 now.

To be fair I have a PS3 a Wii and a Gaming PC (which acts pretty much like a x-box 360 even got the pad) and the one thing my 6 year old Nephew much prefers is my Sega fuckin' Mega-Drive....

I have had a wii since they came out..5 years???
Me and the mrs loved it.. For about 1 year then gets put in a box.. My now 5 year old lad loves it and we all play on it together at times...
I'm not a gamer but have been in Xbox at nephews, different mates have Xbox and ps3.
Mrs said a few month shall we get our son ( 5 ) one which one? I told none.. They are pricey things that a 5 year old will only get frustrated with IMO. I would like a ps3 but I would get bored.. Hold fire on them for a year or two till you can start on the FIFA 14? Get a wii and get him a ukulele cheaper far more fun for his age..

I have both.

For a kid I'd recommend the Xbox.

Ps3 is more for mature gamers in terms of what u can do with it.

My lil bro loves the Xbox and has kinect too.
