It's a pain, although I've got a Live account it's not Gold, so I have to use my son's account to watch Netflix. He's not happy when I tell him to stop his CoD death match haha!

Still it's a joke you have to pay anyway when the online stuff on PS3 and Wii is free. That said I wouldn't leave Xbox.

Need to renew my Xbox Live membership soon, but I've just checked the current prices, and they've gone mental! Why has it got so expensive over the last 12 months? I got mine for £25, now the cheapest I can find is £30, and directly through Microsoft it's £40!

Anyone know anywhere else I can save myself a few bob?

I know times are tough financially for most but is £5 more than what you paid last year really that mental?

Yes, when nothing has changed on the service to warrant an extra fiver!

There is loads more on there compared to this time last year. £5 is fuck all these days.

Have they added anything other than integration with SmartGlass (which was already available through Windows phones) and internet explorer (which is shit to use on there)?

Did the apps come in in the last 12 months? I'll be buying a renewal regardless, but I can't see how they can justify £5 per 12month membership, especially as they've just announced they have 40million users worldwide! Assuming 60% of these have upgraded to Gold, that's an extra £120m per year extra at least. And that's just using the figures for the lowest price I can find. There will have been very little cost on Microsoft themselves for all of this either; it'll be 3rd parties developing their own app.
