I think you'll find it's the government and not the supermarkets who are doing the 'ripping off'...

Sure. And Tescos make very little profit as a company. Regardless of tax (we pay 17%) compare the 24 can I can buy, against the 20 cans Bob buys.

I work at one of the late night tesco expresses. Some pissed up bloke thought he was proper funny buying a bumper pack of Jonnies and some tingly lube, he looked sheepish a couple of days later when I served him and asked how he got on.

Lidl's are selling Maxwell whisky normally retails at £100.....£39.99! I think you'll be lucky to get one now though by the sounds of it, but you never know.
