The timing of the games will help you a lot, West coast is 8 hours behind England. Just walk into anywhere and tell them you need NBC sports, real footy. You've all got those fake accents that the girls love. Enjoy with your bacon and eggs

Sounds like a great trip. Never done LA, but San Francisco is brilliant and San Diego is awesome, I'd move there tomorrow. There's a place in the Gaslamp district of SD called the Yard House, lots of draught beers (weird to be drinking draught Boddies on the West Coast of America) and lots of TV's showing sports channels.
