YaYa - Can We Live Without Him?

My first reaction to this was HERETIC! I realise you are attempting to open up a serious duscussion, but the quality of the player is undeniable and, as many on here have already posted, he'd be welcomed by most teams in world football, let alone our little premier league.
If there's a problem with the way we play with him in the side then that's more an issue for the coaching staff to address, rather than a personnel problem. Silva also played better last season when Tevez was absent, because Tevez had a knack of dropping into those deeper-lying roles where Silva likes to operate. However, I wouldn't advocate we lose Tevez for that reason, just reorganise who plays where and make sure they know their roles.
Honestly, live without Yaya? Only if we absolutely have to.

Last season before YYT disappeared off to the ACN, Bobby correctly predicted that January 2012 would be a difficult period. And....? The wobble began, which saw the runners up gain momentum and overtake us. We knew he was going to be a big miss when he went, and he was. When YYT came back, our sparkle began to return and we know where that led us.

This season, I expected us to carry on largely where we left off. It was not to be. YY while business like, hasn't kicked us on. RM's selections and tactics may well be to blame, but the prospect of him attending this year's ACN didn't concern me as much. Glad he's on our books, but he's not an essential.

If Silva had been born in Accra, I would have been more worried.

If we continue to win our games and produce
good performances then Yaya, when he returns
should be sat on the bench biding his time, awaiting his chance.
No players place should be assured.

YaYa – is he genuinely a crucial ‘must have’ player in the team or not? Discuss:
Sounds crazy I know - but let’s look in a little bit more detail: Last year whilst he was away on ACN duty we won 5 out of the 6 games he missed. I also have to say that without him in the side our football appears to be far quicker, sharper and more incisive.
When Yaya does play as we know EVERYTHING goes through him – he controls all of the action in midfield. A consequence of this is that we play very narrow. The ball comes out from the back and we effectively slowly funnel it forward and more often than not try to walk it into the opponent’s goal.
When he doesn’t play we appear to have more width – we play down the channels a lot more and seem to be much quicker in getting the ball forward into dangerous goal scoring positions.
Yep – YaYa is a genuine City legend and does have a habit of scoring a goal when we REALLY need one and he does it on the really big occasions. However, IMHO it is very much pro’s & con’s.mcfc can live without anybody look at the results last year
Anyone think the same?

I see him as the most complete midfielder in the Premiership as he can pass, tackle, run, defend, shoot and scored goals. We can cope without him but he's got to play when available to do so.
