I think everyone agrees that Yaya is a lot more dangerous, prolific and influential when pushed further up, but for some reason RM seems reluctant to start him in that position.

I can see why. We have Silva and Nasri behind Tevez and Aguero or behind whichever 2 strikers start. We also have Sinclair or Milner as options out wide to supplement service to the front men. Added to that, if we play 3 at the back we've also got Maicon and Clichy/Kolarov getting forward.

But now that we have Garcia, we have Barry on the way back and not to mention Rodwell too, should we perhaps sacrifice one of Silva and Nasri in order to accommodate Yaya further forward from the off, or should we keep him where he is until late in the game like is usually the case?

He is more affective in that role late on in the game....oppo getting tired etc, maybe wouldn't have the same effect from the get go.....Mancini knows what he is doing

You are right blueballs

I wouldn't say he's more effective higher up, he's just more noticeable. He puts in a great shift when playing deep with a great eye for passing and more.

He is far more effective going there last 20mins or so.

The first 70mins he bosses the midfield and dictates our game and then out of nowhere he will make the odd break and then eventually stay forward at the end.

If he started there he would be fucked after the first 30mins. He isn't capable of being those huge runs every time.

At home against the likes of Qpr, Southampton etc then I can see why yaya is used in midfield two but for away matches and tougher home games I would like to see a more balanced formation.

.....................................Hart............................

Zaba...................Komp....................Lescott......................Clichy

.........................Garcia....................Rodwell.........................

.....................................Yaya...........................................

Aguero.............................Tevez.................................Silva

I think we would get the best out of Silva with that and Yaya, it would also give Rodwell some more freedom to get forward whereas in 4-4-2/4-2-4 he just has to hold. Even a very poor stoke team began to dominate us in the midfield yesterday until Barry came on and we pushed Yaya up the pitch.

Last season we only had Barry and De jong to play behind Yaya which has zero creativity, Rodwell seems to be much more creative and Garcia looks to have a few goals in him so all the attacking play wont have to come from Yaya and therefore he wont get as tired.

spot on.

I would play him behind tevez and sergio if fit at Madrid. They wont see it coming and he is so hard to handle coming forward
