And what do you consider his correct position to be, especially as Pep will introduce a high intensity game plan to what has been a lacklustre squad last season? The Yaya situation is an interesting one, the common view being that he will leave this summer, but if he does it will be on our terms.
On the other hand If Pep wants Yaya to stay, that will be because Pep has a role in mind for him. If Yaya is determined to stay but isn't given any assurances then we will have a motivated player determined to prove Pep wrong.
In the past we have relied on Yaya. That won't be the case this season, should we bring in our top targets. I'm not convinced Yaya's powers have waned as much as last season indicated... especially if he is played in his correct position.
If we do sell Yaya his huge wages become freed up for incoming players. I see it as a win win situation.

They have a mega rich owner now so they can pay upWould take that now providing we don't have to pay him off.

I'm thinking that is how it's likely to pan out too. He wants out but he knows Inter won't pay what he's on now and so he's making noises that he's prepared to stay if Pep should want him, which isn't likely. Translation: He hangs around festering and like a bad smell unless City take the drastic action of having to pay him to go.I dint think someone on his wage and waistline on 200k plus per week at age 34 is worth much Karen. Think his agent will be looking for us to pay the difference in his wages.
Giving him away on a free wouldn't be bad business at all. He's 34 years old, of very little use to us now, a huge drain on our wage bill and everybody knows it. We've had more than our money's worth out of him.
Maybe Maureen wants him. Bragging rights and all that.Kept his house on for another year.
