To be fair, this isn't that impressive. Yaya was already a fringe player on the squad. Left to management they'd have rather he moved on. So putting your foot down on an aging fringe player isn't that impressive. There are lots of Impressive things Pep has done here, but this isn't one of them. I know the hate for Yaya here makes folks go gaga over any bad that befalls him. But lets keep it factual, any manager would have taken the same decision. I mean Schweinsteiger didn't say shit at United and Mourihno sent him to go play with the youth team.
Sit
When you are surplus to requirement, this is what happens. If i were Yaya, I sure would not apologize. Sit tight, collect your 250 a week for the rest of your one year. Keep your aging legs fresh so you can play a few more paid for seasons when your contract of getting paid to relax is over. It's only in the mind of fans do they think this is actually a negative for Yaya. I mean I'd love for my company to overpay me to take a vacation for a year at a position I am surplus to requirement at.
Truth is this works for all sides. Pep doesn't have to workout ways to fit some aging ex ward into his new philosophy and an ex-great player doesn't have to spend his last year hoping for 10 minute scraps at the end of games. To me this is a win win situation. Perhaps a win-win-win. As the fans who have always disliked Yaya and deemed his actions disreputable can too pump their fist in joy for having won finally. :)
I guess its a trifecta :) But none of it is that impressive. IN my opinion obviously :)
I think your summary is fairly accurate on all counts however if Yaya needs to apologise to Pep personally over something his agent may have said it should involve his agent.
If its something Yaya has said and Pep/ the Club have taken offence to that then fair enough.
As for the club no club wants a highly paid player to sit on the side lines for a full season no matter the affordability angle.
We loaned out Nasri , Mangala , Hart and Bony and its unlikely any of those players will play for the club again if past history is any indication and no doubt Yaya was in a similar category with Pep deciding he can cover any injuries with youth in big games even if necessary a departure of sorts from the previous manager.
Yaya should bust his balls to train with the first team and do what is necessary to put pressure on other players to perform and be ready if injuries take their toll.
Pep's record on the injury front is such that all the squad will get an opportunity.
