Yaya Toure - commits future to City (page 855)

Re: Yaya Toure

I find the situation laughably preposterous. Until I hear Yaya back up his agents' statement and the Twitter nonsense, I remain fiercely committed to one of the finest players to ever play for my beloved club. If he does back up the statements then I would have no hesitation whatsoever to get rid. Nobody is bigger than City, absolutely nobody.

Re: Yaya Toure

He's the best, but he's 31 so no one is going to come along with a extraordinary offer.

His agent has been shooting his mouth off about City even before we bought him, and talked about him leaving 12 months ago so if you want to act on the basis of his agent's conduct, we'd have never signed him in the first place

The rest of football is laughing at us, and for that I blame the agent, but we need to grow up a bit and realise what is going on. Yaya is 31, he's at his peak, he wants to see how the land lies when he returns from the World Cup and see whether a Bayern Munich or Real Madrid want him. They wont

He's staying.

The reason this topic is so busy is because Yaya Toure strikes fear into the hearts of our enemies and many want to see the back of him. Your wasting your time rags.

The ranting and raving on this site says far more about the ranters and ravers than it does about their chosen subject of abuse.

Demichelis, Garcia, Dzeko, Mancini, Pellegrini, Tevez, Quinn....and on and on and on it goes.

If you were all as animated when we're actually playing at the Etihad, some of you might actually contribute something useful to our great club.

Passes a bit of time!

Nothing we say or do on here will make a blind bit of difference. And to be fair, most blokes will moan and moan about their wives too, but they'd not be without 'em! (then again.... I might swap mine for a decent 25 year old who can take it from the back, stroke it about, and has a good head on her whilst still having her best years ahead of her)

Re: Yaya Toure

I will puke if it all ends in a new improved contract for Toure after he will happily smile next to Txiki or Pelle...

Sell him on a good price (despite it wont be anywhere near 40-50m, closer to 25-30 or some kind of player trade) or let him say sorry and continue here...

"Put him in the reserve" these things wont happen, even didnt happen when Tevez went for a 3-4 month golf tour without saying anything that a lot worse offence than some crying agent over a cake.

Tevez got some weeks wages fine and came back, said sorry, was in the reserves for a few weeks maybe but only for getting his fitness and form back and after that he still stayed nearly one and half year playing regularly...

On the pitch Tevez had no problems, he gave his all and fought for the team.

Of course if Yaya's camp cant force a move this summer, or a new contract and he stays and he will be unhappy as he wont even perform in the team than it will be really bad for the dressing room as Yaya is loved and respected there surely, also one of our top performer and until he is here we wont sign a replacement.

And instead of this its better to sell him if only offer is about 25m its better to accept that.

We ended up accepting a 12m offer Tevez, didnt we?

Norwich bought Wolsfinkel for that or Swansea bought Bony for more and none of them are close to Tevez or ever will be...

Re: Yaya Toure

Yaya should be moved on.

The future should be this man, a harder working player with quality and power in abundance. The most complete box to box player in the world.

Re: Yaya Toure

I don't think any player is unreplaceable. Yaya is an exceptionally good player, but there are better teams in the world than City at the moment, who don't have him in their team & they seem to manage OK. There are plenty of players we could bring in to replace him. At the end of the day we take it personally as fans but this is purely about business for Yaya, his agent & the club. If he is just looking for more money than the club has to decide if it's better business to pay him a bit more to keep him happy, or if its better to bring in a replacement. It may be less cost effective to bring in a replacement of similar quality than paying a bit more to keep Yaya.

Either way it's not my money & I trust the club to do what is best. Saying that, I honestly hope we fuck this ungrateful **** off out of the door & bring in a replacement.

Don't be fooled by thinking because of his age we will have to sell him on the cheap.

We signed him for around £24 million when he was predominantly a defensive midfielder and now he is a world class box to box midfielder.

He has gone from a good player in a world class team into a world class player, who is arguably the best midfielder in Europe. At 31 he has still got at least 2 seasons as the box to box Yaya and then he can revert back to the defensive midfielder he used to be.

Let the bidding start at 40 million because selling him for anything less would be an insult to the club. Also he could be a perfect makeweight in a deal for a couple of Barca players. Lets say Yaya and £20 million for Cesc and Pedro/ Sanchez.

No player EVER in the history of football has been sold for that price as the age of 31. And it's not going to happen now either.

There's next to no resale value for a club paying 40 million for him, and they'll get what - a couple of decent years from him?. It won't happen.

It's not about a resale value though.

Players like Yaya and Ibrahimovic practically guarantee success. Barcelona can not afford to have another trophyless season next year and Toure will be the difference between them winning the league and narrowly missing out.

Yaya might only have two seasons whilst playing at his current level but he will have at least another three playing at his previous Barcelona level as a defensive midfielder.

Put it this way, if any team was to sign Toure on a three/four year deal for £40 million it would be money well spent. When you look at figures being banded about for the likes of Kroos and Pogba who are not a patch on Yaya and never will be, then £40+ million is what we should demand.

Buying a player guarantees nothing. It never has and never will. I've been watching football for long enough to know that.
When we bought him, quite a few wondered if we were buying a dud. We didn't KNOW he'd turn out to be great.
We bought Robinho, that didn't work out so well.
Real bought Kaka - a player we believed could be the signing of the century. Didn't work out too well for him there.

Look at how Tevez IS still doing a great job at Juventus. There's a player who really HAS scored wherever he's played... there was no queue to buy him at anywhere near 40m, and he wasn't 31.

We can demand all we like, but City don't dictate transfer fees, the market does. The market doesn't pay 40m for 31 year old midfielders.

Hello Raggy

Ummm. Given that I'm a former travel secretary of a distant supporters' club branch, that I've travelled thousands of miles to watch City at enormous expense, that I've organised literally hundreds of coachloads, and in the bad old days of the 80s and 90, minibuses to Maine Road, I think that's a bit unfair. But as much as I love City, we have many supporters that I really don't care for. And, by the way, we are bloody quiet at times. The Sunderland game was a flippin' disgrace.
