Yaya Toure has saidnet to nothing, his agent has said rather more.

Meanwhile, Benatia a player City have been linked with, reportedly said the following according to La Gazetta

"[Director of sport Walter] Sabatini looked me in the eyes and thanked me. During the season, he kept telling me how happy he was with my attitude, saying we'd sit down again at the end of the season.

"We had an agreement. Before signing me, Roma said: 'Bena, we know you're worth more and you've turned down a lot of money. Come and prove to us you are a Roma player and if we qualify for the Champions League or win the scudetto, we'll give you a nice contract.' But they've made me an unacceptable offer.

"I've heard people saying I demanded four million euros [a season], but they didn't even get close to offering me three. They said to me, 'Here, you can have this little bit more,' treating me like a child."

Benatia missed only one game for Roma last season, due to suspension, and proved to be a reliable figure at the heart of Rudi Garcia's defence.

He is one of the cornerstones of the side Garcia hopes will be competitive in Serie A and in Europe next season, along with Miralem Pjanic, who recently signed a new contract with the Giallorossi after turning down their first offer.

Benatia insists he is not trying to use Pjanic's situation to his advantage.

"I've never compared myself with Mire -- the strongest midfielder in the world," the defender added. "I've never asked for money based on what he's earning. It's all purely about a promise that was made."

What's the difference? Players relationships with their clubs are different to fans. When a player does something or even hints that his interests don't coincide with the interests of the club we support we just can't hack it.

I remain confident that Yaya Toure will stay. His agent will look around, and after a month they'll conclude they are best off where they are. Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich are not going to buy him
I agree with you . His agent will find out that he has scored a big own goal doing this to Yaya Toure . Not even Paris Saint Germain will able to afford him .

Re: Yaya Toure

Some posters need to remember

1. We won the league in 2012 without yaya scoring 20+ goals.

2. Approximately 10 of this season's goals were from penalties and free kicks. Nothing we can't 'find' from other sources in our team.

He's an extremely good player but not tue be all and end all.

Manuel is intelligent enough to get round him not bring around. In fact his absence may make us better defensively as long as Fernando comes in. Yaya was without a doubt an absolute liability defensively.

Get 35m for him and move on.

£50m all day long

If City at least had some kind of track record when it came to selling players at a profit I'd be willing to listen to that argument. As it is, I'm quite confident we'd get at the absolute maximum 30m, but more likely 25m.

Are you mad? We would never replace someone of yaya's quality with 25 million and replace 20 goals from midfield. He has 3 years left on his contractm is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in the world currently and. Therefore we only sell for whatnot would cost to replace him irrespective of his age. If he was 25 it would be 80-90 million so no less than 50m would be acceptable. Minimum, particularly in light of Luis going for 50million.

I didn't say would be able to replace him with that money. Who knows if City would be willing to put their foot down and resist his agitations to move or will just sell if they think it is not worth the trouble. Plus Luiz is young and PSG are bonkers.

If we sell for 50m I will be very, very pleasantly surprised.

Absolutely no chance of getting anywhere near that amount
Even the £25 million being suggested seems on the high side for someone aged 31
£20 million wouldn't be a bad deal and getting £10 million a year off the wage bill,if indeed he did go.

What a crock of shit.

Now your both talking fucking bollocks.

It is one thing to take penalties out of the equation to some extent but surely not free kicks?

If we sell Yaya it will be for £30m minimum. £50m isn't too unrealistic. If PSG were willing to spend £40m on Luiz surely, if they genuinely want him, £50m is reasonable for Toure.

Yaya will still be a great player when he's 34 I think. The lung-bursting runs will probably disappear but it's not like he's always doing them now. No one in the Premier League can match the way he controls a game from midfield (maybe Matic in a couple of years) and that's why I think we could really feel his loss for a while.

There would be no like-for-like replacement and we'd probably have to rebalance the team in some way which would be helped by the signing of Fernando, who is one of the best defensive midfielders at Champions League level.

Yaya's intelligence on the pitch is underrated, just look at his passing stats from last year, #1 in most categories. City should set an extortionate price if he demands to leave and if no one meets it then he has to stay, simple as that. We cannot let the heartbeat of our side go for any sort of discount. I'm fuming at him at the moment for what he's done, but I really hope he stays for the good of the team.

Yup, can't really fault that assessment. You're certainly right about his control of games, and also about the lung bursting runs. The press fixates on them, but since the second half of 2012 they've dwindled in frequency in direct correlation to the number of parked buses we've faced.
I think you're right about how long he can compete at the very top as well. Most players with his build fall away pretty quickly around the 31/32 mark, but he's uniquely athletic and light on his feet. Sylvan Distin is the only obvious comparison I can think of.
I'd love to see him stay at City for another couple of years, but he's been such a total **** these last 10 days, and treated the club, the fans, and the owners with such contrived contempt, that I don't think there are any more bridges left to burn. Sad, and I'd love to be wrong, but I think he's as good as gone
