i love him, hes been brilliant for us, but he needs a rest/time out

hes becoming lazy defensively, and at times, he just tries to play these long balls over the top to nobody. not played a game this season where hes had a proper foothold in the game

He's not 'becoming' defensively lazy - he's just a woeful, woeful defensive player without a tracking or tackling thought in his head.

He can drop deep and spray the ball about, his feet are amazingly quick and skilful for a big man and his forward charges (when he can be arsed) are a joy.......but defensively he might as well not be there. This is nothing new.

Yayahahah!

He hasn't been dropping back as much this season, it's nothing new but it has been worse. I think his been playing with a niggle for a few games now. He will be back to his best soon.

then whats the point of him playing in DM when hes not prepared to do the gritty side of it. Its great that he makes these lung busting runs forward but last year we had de jong to sit and hold, this year we have nobody

The problem isn't Yaya himself, it's where Yaya is being asked to play.

Bang him behind the striker and you'll see the Yaya from early last year.

Exactly this, but we can't because of the fucked up transfer dealings from the summer.
