We should definitely try and bring him in, it would mean de Jong moving on (as Zab and Vinnie can cover more positions) but it'd be well worth it.

Might depend where we are in the table. The higher the better, obviously, and if by then we are part of a genuine title race, we're going to be a very attractive prospect indeed to most of our transfer targets

To be honest I Think in pure Makelele terms (as he has probably been the ultimate true DM) that De Jong is capable of being a better player than Yaya, I also think brothers at a team is not necessarily what we want it is like having couples working for you. Not sure why when we have De J and Komp we would go for him as this would mean pushing out a younger player who could be his equal or better and probably paying 20m differential for the pleasure of doing it.

I hope Hughes is looking for a world class right sided winger and a world class right back. I am not sure we need anything else.

Bridge is doing well but if we could get someone much better younger and stronger I would consider buying there too.

Otherwise unless Messi, kaka, gerard, Torres or a truly world class centre back come begging I am not sure I would be unsettling the team further

i have a feeling that if Yaya does come then Kompany will be going the other way, barca have been linked with him recently and i think anyone would have their head turne by them.

Yaya is not in the Barca team at present. So there could be mileage in this story.

However in my opinion he is overated by people on this board. His first touch is often cumbersome, not surprising as he is an enormous guy.

He probably would be well suited to the premier league though.

But a swop for Robinho, one of the best 10 players in the world, no way.

Incidentally Barca continue to thrash allcomers even without recognized stars Iniesta, Ibrahimovic. Guardiola is some manager.

Totally agree with your first point. But robbie one of the ten best in the world...

Robbie is quality but until he starts to have the effect on games that those sorts have he cannot be mentioned in the same bracket imo.

I too believe that Robbie won't be a blue in a year.
He started the revolution and we should thank him dearly for that and some of his performances.
I love him and he's fantastic on his day, but he's also severly flawed for being a top top player.

No one is irreplacable and to me he still has a lot to show us. Can he be mature enough to always be interested, even if it's a clogger team away in the cold. You have to be able to count on that in a serious team challenging for anything.
As the boss I doubt Leslie feels that way with Robbie. A real team don't carry that type of passengers and unless he shows some guts and enthusiasm he'll be out when we are strong enough without him.

If we want to reach the top we can't be sentimental. In with Yaya and out with who ever don't perform.
