Yet another borefest

frustrating but not boring, some great passages of play from the blues and only good luck and keeping kept them in it.

but we should be looking to get silva in the team now, his greater creativity would have unlocked them earlier.

Had time to think back on yesterdays game.Thought the Toure/Harte cock-up changed the whole game. The defence became very nervous, and the forward play became anxious.Thought the ref deserved 10/10 for being an utter prick. The withdrawal of Johnson was a mistake,Milner would have been my choice. We chased the game through our own cock-up but it was 2 points dropped. One point regards Richards,78 min according to the city screen,Richards over the half-way line when an attack breaks down, now B'burn attack down their right,Richards WALKED back to our penalty area.Sort it out.

Johnson was beside himself and was risking a red card

my feelings exactly, but you did have me going for a sec when you gave that prick 10/10.

i`m not a believer in conspiracy theory`s, but the ref at sunderland and the twat yesterday were a disgrace to there profession

Totally agree. But this is the problem. Some people think we were really good yesterday and some seem to think we were really defensive. For me the truth is somewhere inbetween. We were quite good at times yesterday but I always had the feeling that we could be so much better with Silva on the pitch. When we are at Eastlands playing a team who often have all but their striker behind the ball, it is very frustrating to see one up front, a central midfield which primarily looks suited to hard work rather than creativity and a player like Silva on the bench. As long as we have two holding players on the pitch and players like Silva on the bench against teams like Blackburn then people are going to have a basis to argue that we are being more negative than we need to be even if we have had 20 shots on goal.

Let's face it, if the op thought yesterday a borefest then football is probably not the sport for him/her to follow.

oh please bore off.

i follow city home and away, been to 3 out of 4 games this season, if you dont agree with me, then fine, but im entitled to my opinion. some agree with it, most dont. deal with it.
You sound like a chid and so what if you have been to 3 games. If you thought yesterday was boring then you know nothing about football as many here would agree. Deal with that.

-- Sun Sep 12, 2010 11:26 am --

some wanted to keep hughes some did'nt, its opinions. the guy i replied to seems to only want good news and no "bitching". that is if disagreeing with other posters is in fact bitching.

And my point is if you are going to raise the opinion that a game was a borefest at least do it when there was a borefest!!!! Just because we drew doesnt mean the game was a borefest and it is clear that some on here have an anti-Mancini agenda and people raising this point at every opportunity is a BORE!!!!!!!

totally agree, yesterday was nothing like a borefest but the op thought it was, in his opinion he had waited till there was a borefest, he's entitled to have that opinion without asking to stay away from the matches.
thats just head in the sand stuff.

Besides the slanging match that has developed here... there is actually an important issue as to whether City under Mancini are perceived as "negative" or "boring" by their own fans.

Years ago a City manager (was it Mel Machin ?) was sacked because he "had no repartee with the fans".

i.e. if there really are significant numbers of fans who found yesterday a "borefest" and don't get the style of football we are trying to play... then it is going to make Mancini's job even more difficult irrespective of whether the results improve or not.

Chelsea + Man Utd have shown that if you consistently dominate possession in football matches + have a solid defence + good players up front... you tend to be successful and end up winning things.
Maybe there are one or two grumbles from Arsenal fans now that their "pretty" football sometimes needs a cutting / more direct edge... but overall they still like the football that their team plays.

I'm not trying to brainwash anyone or outlaw "freedom of speech"... but I am concerned that so many fans do not see any progress in the quality of football that we are trying to play... even if initial results could have been better.

mancini's style of play makes pearces look attacking!

I can not understand this at all. Anybody watching the match could see City were more or less totally dominant. Tevez has been missing a few lately,[he only came back the day before and was carrying an injury]. In the last 2 games we have been very unlucky. Yesterday could have been 6-1. This kind of luck will change,it always does and if we keep at it we will start to move up
quickly.
