as it happens

yes

the article says very little, but the headline tries to make out the players are rebelling and that they are slackers
hence bile

The article is the usual garbage from the Daily Malice - how long has Micah been on the school run?
i was wondering whether it was him going to afternoon classes as a prelude to joining full time next year

There are some fucking imbecile City fans.

Yes, you might want afternoons off too, but you aren't professional bloody athletes are you? Anyone with even the slightest bit of knowledge on Sports Science will tell you why it is hugely important that the players get proper rest times during the day. They aren't working any more than they did under Hughes, it's just that Mancini tells them to start later and finish later.

If they trained 10 hours a day, they would be constantly injured and couldn't play on Saturdays. Their job is dependent on the highly tuned fitness of their bodies, your job sat in an office, on a site or in a factory has absolutely no comparison.

Disagree, there is physical training, technical training and mental training. What's to stop them reviewin a recent match of upcoming opponents on an afternoon, plus some key highlights from other games selected by the manager. They could review old matches and highlight errors and things that went well etc.

They could even put them on some media training and handling interview techniques. They could be sat on their arse for this with no risk of injuries. I'm not saying put a 10 hour day in every day but 3 hours/day + 2 games/week isn't exactly stressful.

Similarly, no-one is going to break a leg or become exhausted by banging in a few penalties against a reserve team keeper or practicing free kicks or corners with some ball boys setting up the balls for them. Sorry to say it but Beckscum used to practice for hours, even after the rest had pissed off home and his dead ball and crossing delivery even most blues would acknowledge is spot on.

They do all of that anyway, as well as the physical work.

Did you think that the most successful young coach in Europe wouldn't make his team look at previous matches?

Have you ever been around a football club and seen the amount of detail that goes in to training? Even stupid shit, like every single calorie that a player puts in to his body is accounted for. They have regular blood tests to test hormone levels, and make sure they are within the required limits. The level of detail that goes on in football now is crazy.

Have you every tried training regularly and playing two games a week? It is bloody difficult, we aren't talking a kick about in the park either here, we're talking about playing twice a week (sometimes three times) in the fastest and hardest league on the planet, against the best players in the world.
