Years ago I worked at an outdoor pursuit centre in between Kendal and Ingleton.Depending on the weather it can be a sheer delight or a miserable trudge.
Never underestimate the weather in Ribblesdale, I've seen snow in June.
Went caving in the shadow of the viaduct. Parked up, nice crisp and clear February morning. Spent an hour or so underground following the Ribble. Came out to completely thick fog. Could hardly see the end of your nose. And there was sleet too.
Fortunately (and unbeknown to the rest of us) the leader had taken a compass bearing of where the minibus was...... and off we all marched, single file, arm on the shoulder of the person in front of you and made our way back safely. 10 mins later a nice crisp clear day.
Beautiful part of the country.
