Yorkshire Cricket Club

This whole affair sums up humans pretty well in my humble opinion with all our faults.

This is no doubt an awkward moment for Rafiq. However, he’s owned it and apologised. Just as David Lloyd did the other day (though I’m not sure Bumble can use age as a mitigating factor).

What he tweeted 10 years ago doesn’t excuse the years of almost daily racism he endured though, and as for apologies we’re all still waiting for Michael Vaughan to issue his instead of flat out denying that he’s ever said anything racist despite evidence courtesy of multiple witnesses and a few rather dodgy tweets, at least one of which he deleted.

The one thing good about all this is Vaughans Media career now being destroyed, As you say the stuff he's posted on his twitter has been Abhorrent. An absolute Wanker that bloke.

@Octavian responded to me which explains my view nicely.

A racist tweet is still deplorable, but it's being highlighted now firstly because he's at the peak of his 'fame' but also to discredit him as a person and his claims that YCCC is institutionally racist.

I'm of the view that no one is whiter than white (probably not the best expression on this topic). We've all done things we aren't proud of. There's a difference between an indirect tweet compared with years of direct confrontational racism.

Just what is in his head?

Of course. His testimony was very hard to listen to. You’d think though he’d maybe have included ‘I have said things in the past’ at some point. The fact it’s surfaced by a third party now, prompting his apology just 2 days after his testimony. Knocks his credibility for me.

I agree with the bold bit. Like I've said in previous posts, I (and I'm pretty sure 99.9% of posters on this forum) have done some really stupid shit I'd find detestable today.
At least he's man enough to apologise about it. I'm not going to judge him on that because I'd be a massive hypocrite if I did.

It doesn't knock his credibility for me, but I guess that's down to each individual person to decide.

How would he know he sent that One Tweet all those years ago, Fair enough if he was forever cracking jokes about Jewish folk. But would he really remember this One Tweet he sent to his mate?

Credibility probably the wrong word. His allegations and testimony was very credible indeed.
