despite having the backing of his board to the tune of many many tens of millions, mainly spent on ,man u squad players, he realsised he was so unpopular that his team wouldnt play for him.
Then rather than ferguson and be further humiliated he walked away days before the game
A total shithouse that paid no thought to the loyalty hed been shown, just wanted to save himself regardless of the position it left his club in
Previous form of course when he let his country down on the eve of a world cup.
