whats he got to do with it.

Nope wouldn't take it as the poor bugger who drew it out of their account would loose it. In reality, after a specified amount of time, the cash machine would take it back in and it would go into the purge bin. The account would then be recredited. Have a mate who used to work for Wincor Nixdorf on the servicing side and he said you wouldn't believe the amount of times this exact thing happens, particularly on a Friday and Saturday night with loads of pissed up people trying to get money out.

and there is 300 squid hanging from the dispenser, do you take it inside and hand it over 'shop not bank' or tuck neatly inside top pocket and disapear
I would take it back in, as it is nobodys money except the poor person who tried to withdraw it and who may well really need it. You have also committed theft.
Did you take it in today?

Given the machine would take the cash back in if it's not claimed and refund the customer, there's not really any excuse for taking it. Think one can justify these things to themselves if it's just money found lying in the street, as the chances of getting it back to it's rightful owner are extremely slim. In the case of the cash machine though, it's obviously stealing.
