Yougov survey about City & scum fans

I do think our fans are more obsessed with them and hate them more than they are with us.

There are always numerous posts on the rag thread on here. I looked at the rag caf the other week and we hardly feature at all.

Disagree totally.

30 seconds into the game against their so called biggest rivals last weekend they are singing about us. The Manchester based ones fucking hate us....

Re: You gov survey about City & scum fans

The personality traits between the different sets of fans interests me;

Rag fans: Dedicated, confident, hardworking, trustworthy, stubborn, easy going
City fans: Communicative, Challenging, Impatient, calming, clever, independent

Rag & City fans: Adaptable, Friendly, Big Hearted, A Leader

Personally I think this is complete b*ll*x there are no more dedicated fans than City fans. For me this is an article written by a rag with the usual agenda.

The relative inactivity is in no small part down to the relative success of each club this season. united have been providing us with a seemingly endless supply of comic material to use at their expense. I expect during our times of crisis in the last four years ( eg Tevez in Munich, Mario & Mancini tussle) there has been much more activity about us on there.

Another factor is that Bluemoon has a much, much higher proportion of match going fans than rag cafe which means that board's output is not properly reflective of the feelings and priorities of united's match going support.

united's core support, especially its Mancunian fans, is easliy as fixated with us as we are with them. This is evidenced in the nature of their singing output on match days and what they talk about when they congregate together. The fact they are, to a significant extent, in collective denial about it makes them more, not less obsessed.

They utterly despise where we find ourselves, which makes it all the sweeter. I certainly don't want their love or respect. The more they complain about how unfair it all is, the greater pleasure I derive. I hope they never accept our new status. I wouldn't want their pain to diminish 1%.

Excellent post GDM...Exactly how I see it.

No, it's not a survey of City and rag fans, it's a survey of YouGov members that express a preference for a football team.

What proportion of City and United fans are yougov members?
Yougov makes surveys by people who like to make surveys in general, not by people whose main interest is football.

This would be like me filling in an opinion poll saying that I prefer M&S ready meals to Asda or Sainsbury's. I couldn't give a toss really as I prefer to make my own but answer M&S because there is no option button to pick my own.

So in the football survey we've got lots of people from Lancashire having to pick one of the 20 premier league teams. They can't pick Preston, Burnley, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Blackburn etc. because they are not in the PL, so they pick City because they dislike City less than the other lot.

It's a complete load of bollocks, it's just people filling in surveys so that they can get freebies or discounted stuff.
I agree with him....

In the world I grew up in, the rivalry between the 2 sets of fans centred around the derby and almost mostly the derby. Things changed in the 90's where ManUre started winning things on a regular basis whilst we went into the wilderness.

All of a sudden a load of 'I've always been a Red' type of fan crawled out from under whatever stone they were hiding under. Before this, I used to be more about Manchester (I know they don't come from here, but you know what I mean) against the world, but from the day 3 mates of mine came round to see me purely to take the piss out of the fact they'd won the Premier League whilst we were dropping through the divisions changed things for me forever.

Now the gloves are off. I don't go looking for a squabble with any of them, but believe me, they fucking hate us with a passion. I asked a Rag client this week if Liverpool were still their biggest match of the season and their 'derby' and he said yes. So I asked him then why is it you rarely mention them and always go on about us? He thought about it for a second and replied 'Liverpool is an historic hatred, but City is just a local spat'! What I have noticed is the age difference between the Rags who see us as the main object of their hatred and Liverpool, as the younger swamp dwellers don't remember Liverpool's previous league dominance and focus more on us.

I truly hate the fuckers but to say we're more obsessed with them I think needs to be taken into context.

I concur about the rag fans being friendly and big hearted. Their sporting reaction to the loss in the FA Cup semi-final was humbling in the extreme.

Exactly, they seem particularly outraged and unable to comprehend the fact that we actually beat them, like some kind of mental break down, it was like a sea of rage zombies out for blue blood!
