Thats the thing, I read somewhere that the club's union rep fills it out the forms on behalf of the players at some teams. Presumably those votes are counted.

You are missing the point by a wide margin,how can the player of the year be a player that has played 8 games ?? & scored just 2 goals.??

It's not a season award or a yearly award ,FFS it's decided in February with months left of the season so it must be a half season award.
