Your best intro to a song

No messing , 10 seconds and your in

My 1st live band, they were amazing

Take your pick

The top one. That 10 minute version of Waterfront they played at the start of that tour late 1985 was its greatest ever incarnation imho. The truncated versions since have sounded lame by comparison.
That Tube broadcast is probably in my top 3 recordings of theirs ever.

Your second pick does surprise me a bit though, because the other track with its best ever version from that tour was also on there; Book of Brilliant Things, with its slow to uptempo arrangement and the gorgeous piano intro of Michael MacNeil. They’d changed it again (for the worse), by the time they recorded their live album in Paris the following summer.

Cheers for posting anyway mate, fabulous stuff :-)
