Underrated/Under-appreciated Mansour XI (either by the fans or the club)?
Caballero - Had a rough start and didn't quite come into his own until he won us the League Cup final in 2016, but the way he was sold over Bravo didn't sit right with me at the time and still doesn't now. He'd proven himself to be just as good as Bravo with the ball at his feet and was chosen for the second half of Pep's first season because he was also much better with his hands. Deserves better than sitting on the bench at Chelsea.
Sagna - Had a slow start to life at City, just like Caballero, but became a more than dependable defender. Was sad to see him end up at a poor club in Italy because he was always better than that. I think he was unfortunate to be at the club under the worst of Pellegrini and Pep's first season and even more unfortunate not to end up with another Premier League club.
K. Toure - Looking back, I think his time at Liverpool affected how we all eventually saw him, but he was a very important signing at the time and remained solid until we sold him. Obviously he had to go when Pellegrini came in because Demichelis was better suited to the system we ended up playing, but he was a good captain before Tevez and Kompany took over that role and obviously had a huge role in bringing Yaya to the club.
Demichelis - I always liked Demichelis until he fell off a cliff towards the end, but that was mostly down to his age and the fact that we kept him on for a season too long. He had a few stumbles when he first arrived but by the time we were in the home stretch of our title win under Pellegrini (especially the Newcastle and Hull away games) he stood firm. Then he had that bizarrely good partnership with Mangala where they kept 16/17 clean sheets on the trot when starting together, or something like that. Rashford ended his career but he never deserved to be a scapegoat.
Nastasic - Nastasic has made it clear since he left that Pellegrini seemed to be looking for any excuse to freeze him out. A bad knee injury and a mistake against Chelsea (partly caused by Hart) saw to that, and a bright young defender who was excellent under Mancini was replaced by Mangala to the tune of £42m.
Danilo - Glad to see people are finally coming round to him being a great squad option. That's what he was last season and what he was signed to be. Walker remains the better right-back overall but when Kyle's going through a spell like his current one, it's good to know we have Danilo to depend on.
J. Garcia - Suffered mostly from just not being Nigel de Jong. He was very conservative and often a little slow on the ball but formed an important role for himself in Pellegrini's title winning season that saw him keep Fernandinho out of the side during the home stretch. Was sold just as he was coming into his prime, in my view, and I think we missed him the following season when Fernando came in and performed the same function but far less comfortably.
Gundogan - Same arguments as I put forward for Danilo. Keeps his head down, plays when needed and contributes enough to justify being part of our squad. People expect the world of him sometimes, which I guess can be forgiven considering his potential before all the injuries he suffered, but he's not either Silva or De Bruyne and the faster we accept that as a fanbase the better we'll all sleep at night.
Navas - Stagnated quite badly towards the end and needed to leave, but he was excellent during his first season and always put the effort in regardless of whether he was asked to play as a winger or as a full-back. Didn't deserve hate simply for being limited.
Nasri - This is a strange one. He was never quite as good for us as he was for Arsenal but he was an integral piece of the 11/12 and 13/14 title-winning sides, especially the latter. He's a prat who ruined his career but while we needed him he was more than good enough - he had a great relationship with Silva and Aguero, broke defensive lines when necessary and scored some very important goals throughout his City career. Deserves a slightly better legacy than the one he has.
Dzeko - Sure, we remember him very fondly now, but this guy was jeered and complained during his time at the club for all manner of things. I wasn't a huge fan of him myself at first but he really got going in the 11/12 season and was consistent on a season-by-season basis until we signed Bony to replace him, which must have been a kick in the teeth for Edin. Scored some very big goals, clearly had a good relationship with the fans before his last few months at the club, and we're forever grateful for his goal against QPR that gave us hope.
