There were some nikes out about 10 years ago that were perfect - plain in their design so similar to cortez in that regard but a much better shape. They were mint, i had two or 3 pairs and my mates similar but then they disappeared and i've never seen them since. They were pretty much always white leather with different swoosh colours and either a plain or a gum sole. Can't remember the name for the life of me
 
the ones I ran a marathon in 6 years ago _ because I did all my training and the race and didn't get one blister

they were New Balance btw
 
There's something about a fresh pair of Reebok Classic that "does" it for me. I don't care who thinks they're chav (they are worn by them, granted, but. In years to come you'll all remember them like you do remember classic adidas now.

I had a pair of reebok hexalite in '99 obviously some 6-7 years after they were popular. great tennis shoes. I was retro bfore retro was old school.
I had 6-7 pairs of classics at the same time

Nike are shite.

Got to agree with you on the nike issue... though internationalists need a shout. got a pair of both + a pair of brand new borg elites
to go with my 100+ pairs of old skool/vintage adi's...
Not too keen on sambas ( though i've a pair of bottle green suede and levi denim one's both from '95 )
Allways prefered original blue/white handball spezials too gazelle...
My fave's are prob, original forest hills or kegler super.
