Ive always loved this. English composer Edward Elgars "Nimrod" ......You will probably know it, its 4 minutes long.
Its part of his Enigma Variations.
Each variation was written to describe his friends musically. Nimrod is a fabled biblical hunter, which Elgar thought described the personality of A Jaeger, one of his best friends.
Its called "Enigma" because Elgar said every movement was based on a much more famous melody, up to date no-one has definitively worked out what.
Sounds particularly good on headphones.
