Mark Hollis (Talk Talk/Solo) - IMO he is this country's real musical treasure, not McCartney. The way Talk Talk evolved from Duran Duran soundalikes to creating some of the most timeless music of the last 50years is pretty aweinspiring.
A fantastic singer, but a wonderful unassuming person who was never arrogant (he had every right to be if he had wanted to)
Also loved how he stuck two fingers up to EMI and made some of the most honest and powerful albums ever which sadly never got deserved recognition outside of certain circles which they deserved.
I must have around 2,000 albums on my iTunes and I think Spirit of Eden is comfortably the best - listen to the whole thing with no distractions if you ever get the chance - you won't regret it.
