That's a lot of players to replace! Personally I don't see us having an overhaul this summer. Not an astute use of money, especially given the price inflation these days. Plus large influx of new players mean longer time needed to develop an understanding.

Thought I've read somewhere that Sagna was poised to sign an extension for one year. Don't know if it is true though.

Kun losing his class? Not when he was still our main goal outlet at the moment. But maybe you're just being cheeky and I fail to comprehend the English humour!

Six to go at the end of this season of which only Toure is a regular starter
Kun is not the player he once was. Whether that's down to not being motivated or just out of form, I don't know. But I did actually say he was one of only a few true worldies we have

Would we really miss, Willy, Demichelis, Mangala, Kolorov and Sagna?

Hart - good shot stopper unless down low to his left. Average distribution.
Caballero - hero for one game, average in most
Zab- love the guy but not looking great for his future as doesn't look the same player, I'm hoping he gets another season or two.
Sagna- steady Eddie, good season but too old to build a side around and no much attacking threat.
Clichy- reasonable as a back up but not the best.
Kolorov- awful
Demichellis-past it
Mangala- too prone to making costly mistakes. Hopefully Pep will get something out of him
Otta- rash and error prone
Kompany- great when not injured. A Real leader.
Fernando- limited
Fernandinho - good season but getting older. Can have some average games
Delph- limited
yaya- legend and still had lots to offer if used correctly for me. On the wane though.
Navas- can't fault his graft but delivery poor and goalscoring record awful. Better as a sub for me.
Nasri-infuriating but good on the ball. May be a surprise pep pick.
Sterling- potential but way too many average games
De Bruyne- homer, great impact at home, not so much away.
Silva- looks like injuries have taken their toll and has to carry all the creativity weight on his shoulders. I'm sure he will come good again.
Aguero- legend and best striker in the league. Injuries have affected him.
Kelechi- full of promise and I'm sure Pep will bring him on a treat.
Bony- limited

Pep has a lot to do!

Think most of the players have seen better days time to rebuild the spine bar hart and aguero! Vinny is a big question mark so a laporte or stones to come in a be looking to take his role in the next couple of seasons! But it's the midfield that needs the bigger overhaul I think out of the 4 we have only delph is worth keeping for the long haul because of age! We need a real leader in there that can play football maybe 2!

Hart - easily the best English keeper. Passion and commitment is irreplaceable
Willy - not as good as Hart, that's why he's No 2. Not sure what gain there is in replacing him for another 2nd keeper
Zabaleta - doesn't look the player he was after injury, rest and pre-season and should be at worst reliable squad man
Sagna - decent this season. Only replace if someone better is available
Clichy - been ok this season. Same as Sagna
Kolorov - poor season. A player we can definitely improve on. Can't see him being a Guardiola type player.
Demi - proved his value last season. Will be replaced by Denayar next year
Kompany - when fit, everything you want in a player, a leader, a man. Hope Pep can find a way to keep him injury free
Mangala - think he'll stay whilst Pep takes stock. But will need to up his game and prove his ability
Otamendi - pretty much same as Mangala
Delph - been unlucky to be injured at a time when he would have got good playing time. Juries out
Fernando - had a reasonable season. There's better out there though and maybe one who'll go
Fernandinho - as good as anyone this season. Can't see him going
Yaya - fuck knows!
Silva - shame it's Euro's this year cos he needs to go back home, put his ankles up and come back ready for next year
Nasri - offers something the others don't imo but seems a strange guy attitude wise. I reckon Pep will love him or hate him, and visa versa
Navas - I think he's a Pelligrini player, not sure he'll be a Pep player
Sterling - been ok but not had the impact I expected. Let's just hope Pep has the key to unlock his undoubted potential
KDB - really unlucky for him, and us, to get such a bad injury. World class
Sergio - another who's class is undeniable. Hope a change in manager/playing style relight his desire
Bony - he's turned out to be everything I thought he wouldn't be. Injury prone, static, wasteful in front of goal, disappointing. Can't see him staying
Nacho - must be like a dog on heat waiting for Pep to arrive. Doesn't appear to be trusted by Pellegrini, hopefully he will be by Pep

Hart - Not the best keeper around but generally an exceptional shot-stopper. Let down by his distribution.

Caballero - Clearly a talented keeper, doesn't look remotely comfortable in English football. Brilliant against penalties.

Sagna - Consistent, solid but unspectacular. Doing well for a 33 year-old but he can't have too long left at the club.

Zabaleta - Clearly lost a yard or two of pace, not a surprise given his age and how much football he's played over the last few years, still a very good player. I'd be inclined to keep him ahead of Sagna.

Kompany - The injury problems are never going away and he's always liable for a mistake or two given how aggressive he is stepping out, still comfortably our best centre-back though.

Otamendi - Aggressive, strong and fairly composed. Too quick to go sliding in. He'd look a hell of a lot better in a functional defence though.

Mangala - Again, aggressive and strong but not composed and plays far too instinctively. Probably turn out to be a good player. Suspect he'd improve significantly under Pep but a big risk sticking with him when Stones is seemingly available.

Demichelis - Good player, served us well but his age has caught up with him. Hopefully he gets a nice send-off at the end of the season and then has a swansong in Argentina or at NYCFC.

Clichy - Doesn't really excel at anything but he's playing fairly well and you can never really fault him for effort.

Kolarov - Incredible that he's lasted almost 6 years at the club. Looks good when the ball is played a yard and a half in front of him when he's overlapping, generally below par in every other aspect. Should have been sold years ago.

Fernando - Improved since last season but doesn't look suited to us. Not good enough technically, nowhere near as composed as any of the other central midfielders. Shouldn't really have a third season.

Fernandinho - Our most important central midfielder. Does it all, not as talented as Yaya perhaps, but makes up for it with versatility and work-rate.

Yaya - Still a very talented player but the physical limitations make him hard to fit into a functional side without forcing other players out of position (or out of the team).

Delph - Good option to have about. Not as good technically as Yaya or Fernandinho but what he lacks in technique he makes up for in work-rate and energy.

Sterling - Still got a way to go but clearly talented. Has an odd habit of scuffing the ball.

Nasri - Talented but unreliable. Hard to see him doing the required pressing in a Guardiola team.

KDB - Incredible talent. Not as good as Silva yet but not a long way off. If can learn how to dictate the tempo of games like Silva does, he'll be even better.

Silva - He's going through a slump but he's still our best player.

Navas - Much maligned but he's a good team player, he plays practically box-to-box and he's reliable. Should score more mind.

Aguero - Best striker in the league, one of the best in the world. Possibly his worst season in a City shirt, entirely expect him to be back to his best next season.

Bony - Utterly unsuited to us. Big, clumsy, slow to react and far less assured technically than he appeared at Swansea. In everybody's interests if there is a parting of ways.

Iheanacho - Incredibly talented. Far more suited to our style of play - agile, good technically, composed and not noticeably fazed by anything. Should have been trusted far more this season.

Really honest opinion:

Zaba, Silva, kompany are close to just living off former glories.

Yaya, kolarov and Fernando are now just boo boys and are completely underrated.

Sterling takes ridiculous unfair abuse.

KDB is the second best player in the squad.

Kun is the best.

Delph is the newest player to benefit he "runs around a lot and doesnt seem too flash so I love him"

Fernandinho is one of the most important players in the squad. Sagna is in our top 3 players of the season.

We miss Nasri horribly.

No top team should go into a season with bony as back up striker.

Hart .... Class keeper and has been one of the best around. Looks to me like he has been carrying a few extra pounds and thus inhibits his ability to move his feet and get to low shots. Great team man but I honesty think there is better out there...my hart says keep him but if we want to become a better team he could be replaced.

Sagna... Massive improvement from him this season. Knowing Zabs was injured gave him the chance to play without a pressure that hindered him before. All round game is good, not seen him let us down often this season.

Kompany... Hmmm. Obvious legend and great all round king of the team but I have noticed a little difference in him and that may be down to injurys and coming back to soon with has damaged many a player over the years. Think he is trying to hard at time, needs his swag back, I'm sure it will come.

Otimendi... I've said it before and I will say it again. HE IS TO RASH, that how he plays and has always played, he knows no other way. Decent in the air for a small defender but not got the pace I would like to see in a world class defender, that or a better ability to read the game which he also does not posses.
Will cost us time after time, not for fault of trying I might add. Coaching may improve him, may not.

Mangala... This guy looked like the real deal when he first arrive. I was so excited thinking we had got a great player then all of a sudden it all changed, suffers lack of confidence and I feel like he is not one of the lads. Preferred to any other defender at present. Should be him and company till the end of the season. Being picked continuously might do his confidence some good.

Chichy... Not , like so many players these days, matured in the direction his career should have done. He has been playing in this league for a very long time now and should be a main player on and off the pitch. Never vocal and prone to looking like he has no picture of what to do in his head imo. Luckily he still has maintained his speed and has good recovery, if his speed ever goes he is done for.

Kolarov... Some people just get to comfortable and he is one of them. He attitude is one to be desired. I think he think the world revolves around him. Far to selfish although his performances at the beginging of the season were much improved, I actually thought he was class but consistency is what makes you great and I don't think he will ever be that. Only plays well when angery and has a point to prove.

Zaba... I have man love for this guy, real grown man love and he has been though a horrible time with injuries which coincided with Sagna playing the best he ever has for us. He know he is not first choice right now and it is affecting his game. Needs a long run of games but the truth is he will not get that at the moment. Could do with us having a good old fashioned reserve team for a run of high intensity games. He will be back next season for sure.

Yaya... Legend. Class. Imo best player I have ever seen at our club. Underrated and easy to pick on. Like all players has had a number of games where he was not performing and has a right knob of an agent but trust me guys if he leaves this season, which is a massive possibility, we will truly understand what an immense player he was for us. I think pep will know what he brings tho and keep him for at least 1 more season.

Fernando... Pfft. This guy imo is pants and does not even look like he knows how to play the game, often looks lost and I've never seen him once be vocal which is a must in the role we ask him to play. Is no NDJ and thats what he was meant to be. Needs replacing. I hope
he proves me wrong but I don't see it.

Fernadino... Had amazing start to the season. And looked like he was really enjoying his football, always smiling and it showed in his performances. Not world class by any stretch of imagination but ranks high in all necessary attributes.

Silva... This pains me to say it but the guy looks finished, not sure how you can play so poorly for so long. Dreadful passing, hurried and risky. Movements disappeared, looks like he has been on meth when the camera gives us a close up of him and I've not seen him smile for the longest time. Not sure if it's dues to his injures or some personal issue but if he does not turn it around soon then I'm afraid we may have seen the best of him and boy was he great.

KDB... I agree with many people that say he would look better in a more dynamic team, say Leicester or West Ham.
Done a great job in regards to goals and assists. Just need more time to get used to the club. Pep will improve his game massivly.

Sterling... Where do I start with the BOY?
I can not for the life of me understand why he can not stike a ball cleanly. I can not for the like of me understand why his crossing is so poor, 50 million. No way, I'm going to say it now. He will not improve. He has no football intelligence. I'm done here.

Nasri... Hurry up and come back..please. we need you.

Navas... This guy is slowly starting to grow on me. At one point I wanted him out faster that a fart but his work rate has won me over. He is one of our few players where we know what we will get. Always looks to take a man on on the outside which I like, Sterling could learn a lot from him...Just needs to learn to shoot a little more....well a lot more.

Kun... Right I know I'm gona get shot down and there is no doubting that this guy on his day is up there with the best of them with out doubt. There was one point last season that he was going past people like he was Messi, shear class Yes he has had a number of terrible injuries and in quick succession and I know that takes its toll. Right I'm ready to say it. The guys gone toooooo gready and I understand he has been getting frustrated with the lack of chances but he constantly trys to go down avenues that don't exsist. He needs to stop trying to over force things and use the obvious inteligence he has to pass and more to make space he also need to work the lines more and run in behind..oh and stop with throwing your arms around all the time..it looks bad.

Nacho... Good prospect seems to have the right temperament to become a good player. Keep learning and keep trying and his time will come.

Bony... This is not ever going to work. He is a class player but we play a certain system under MP and you can't expect Bony to do a job anywhere like Kun, it's not going to happen what so ever. He needs a total different shape. Focus on his eminence hold up play and then have the right type of support. He does not help himself tho as he is carrying to much weight and is not as fit as he was at Swansea.

Can I add that I believe we as a club do not train hard enough. I think MP gives them an easy ride.

All I know is that I love this team every single one of them, even YaYa and he sometimes drives me crazy!! I'll cheer them every step and every kick of the ball and if I was not feeling so ill I would be there tomorrow cheering like mad. So please, cheer for me tomorrow forget what's happened before, as Scarlett whatshername says in Gone with the Wind, tomorrow is another day.

So cheer and shout and also while you're at it show those scousers how to treat returning ex-players when Micah and Joleone are introduced. Aston Villa may be bottom of the leagues but our ex-players deserve a cheer.

I would broadly go along with a lot of the appraisals in the OP in terms of this season and their current form. I do think though that we could revisit this in 12 months and have incredibly different judgements on a fair few members of this squad. Who knows, in a year we might be thinking Pellegrini did well with a squad of players who were nowhere near as good as we thought they were. Fucking doubt it mind. Much more likely that a fair number of them either return to previous glories or in the case of the newer additions prove better than they ever have done for us. Time will tell.

Hart : Not that good, overrated.Good shot stopper but the rest of his game is awful
Willy: Been a disaster
Wright: Almost pointless, just comes as an English member
Zabba: Absolute class and a warrior, bleeds blue
Sagna: Decent cover, can defend slightly better than Zab
Clichy: Has what Kolarov lacks
Kolarov:Has what Clichy lacks
Kompany: An absolute monster and a gentleman
Otamendi: Ability to be great with a decent pairing and midfield in front of him
Demichelis: A spent force but also would be better without a non existent midfield
Mangala: Will be great when Pep gets hold of him
Fernando: Starting to find his feet, will struggle to figure next season
Dinho:Quality player, gives his all.Still has a couple of good seasons in him
Delph: Only there for the English quota, only good against shit
Nasri: Class player, missed him, retains the ball better than anyone, links up well with the king
Sterling:Needs to improve big time
Yaya:Our greatest ever player, but now needs rest time and played in best position
Silva: Absolute class,will be back
Navas:Only good enough to be a decent impact sub
KDB: Class player, need more like him.Quality first season
Bony: Absolute pants, didn't want us to sign him
Kelechi:An absolute star in the makings
Aguero: World class, love everything about him. Can't do it al on his own

hart - blonde
willy - zero to hero
sagna - lost his dreads
zab man - leg end
vinny - dont feck with him, man!
mangler - edward nigma
otta - beard, erratic, beard
mdm - just the 2 speeds
clichy - reliable
kola - unreliable
fernando - 1 of sextuplets, others fill in when he has summat else on.
dinho - nice!
kev - pale and decent
sterling - dark and decent
nasri - injured, but blue hair scores points
delph - dont know him yet
yaya - leg end
navas - speedy but not good at left turns
silva - magic powers fading
aguero - golden child
bony - right player, wrong team
nacho - promising

Joe Hart - should be vice captain. Can't fault him. Not perfect but like a Carragher for Liverpool, we get an extra 10% because he loves the club.

Sagna - really come into his own this year when we've needed him.

Zabaleta - club legend who is perhaps just on the other side of the hill.

Demichellis - did a job a couple of years ago but think his work is done now.

Mangala - like Vonk with Curle - he looks good with Vinny but like a fish out of water without him.

Otamendi - see above. Gets caught out of position too much for me and can't resist diving in.

Kompany - stop talking for the team when they aren't as determined as you. Class though and the reason we'll win the league.

Clichy - I like him but should only be a back up next season.

Kolarov - Not keen. He's been alright but frustrates me like Petrov used to by smashing the ball as hard as he can when sometimes a delicate ball is required.

Fernando - needs replacing. Just doesn't look good enough. De Jong > Garcia > Fernando

Fernandinho - Love him. Part of the team for a long time to come hopefully.

Yaya - Legend but if Pogba comes - ta ra.

Delph - good squad player.

Sterling - stop checking back and try going once in a while.

Nasri - missed him this season. Frustrating at times but wants to be loved.

KDB - looks class but perhaps could step it up more in the tougher games.

Silva - beautiful player but is currently struggling. Fucking shoot more!

Navas - industrious but lacking quality.

Aguero: our best ever player but will be even better with Pep's tactics and players.

Bony - not ever going to fit.

Nacho: top striker for years to come. Will blossom under Pep if he listens.

There's going to be an almighty shake up this summer mainly because the man that's taking over isn't a man city fanatic so therefore isn't looking at the squad through blue tinted glasses. If all our players really were as good as we are rating them then there's no way we'd be in the predicament were in.

Hart - No need for change here, solid keeper, surely Pep can improve his distribution which is the one part of his game that lets him down.
Willy - Good bye and thanks for the cup win ( your legend is assured)
Zabaleta - Struggling at the moment although offers much more going forward than sagna.
Sagna - Good defender, poor attacking wise.
Clichy - Both left backs need replacing.
Kolorov - See Clichy.
Demi - Thank you and goodbye.
Kompany - A Colossus. will lead us to more titles going forward.
Mangala - Poor so far, pep may change that, we'll see.
Otamendi -Never rated him and seen nothing since he joined to change my mind.
Delph - Too injury prone to be of any great use to us.
Fernando -Improved of late but another who's future lies elsewhere
Fernandinho - Good solid player who will fit in to peps team.
Yaya - The great enigma, just how we replace him fuck knows. A giant of a player for us.
Silva - Genius and I for one think he will regain that status.
Nasri - He'll be kept as he holds possession well and that's a trait pep likes.
Navas -No faulting his effort and thoroughly likable but just not good enough.
Sterling - Not sure he'll ever be much of a finisher but has shown enough to think he has a future for us.
KDB - Pep will like him but he'll expect him to up his workrate.
Sergio - Superstar and will get better still under pep
Bony -Gone at the first opportunity.
Nacho -Will either become world class under pep or be gone in 12 months. Hopefully the former.

The problem with alot of the players worth keeping is age. By the time the season starts

Zab- 31
Sagna-33
Kompany- 30
Fernandino - 31
Silva - 30
Nasri -29
Yaya - 33

What he/we need to do is ease these players out over the next 3 years with the exception of maybe Kompany if he can stay fit and bring in 5/6 players who are in their early to mid 20's now, good enough to start and take over as the senior players when these go.

It's not going to be easy.

Hart - Too many flaws to his game
Caballero - Lost his confidence
Zabaleta - Cult hero but past his best
Sagna - Our best defender this season
Kompany - World class but needs to stay fit
Mangala - Physically impressive but brain dead
Otamendi - Needs to reign in the reckless tackles
Demichelis - Legs have gone
Clichy - Defensively sound but upgrade needed
Kolarov - Crosses are a weapon but a liability defensively
Navas - Provides width and space for Silva
Delph - Villa was his level
Fernando - Does a job in front of the back 4
Fernandinho - Hell of an engine
Yaya Toure - On his day there is no one like him but not the same player
Nasri - Good passer but seems to have lost the ability to go past players
Sterling - Limited skill set and overall waste of money
De Bruyne - Creates and scores
Silva - Best player in our history
Aguero - World class
Iheanacho - Star in the making
Bony - Slows our attack too much

Kompany, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva and Aguero are the only certainties to stay imo. Sterling will probably stay due to his price tag but the rest is obviously at the discretion of Pep, Txiki et al.

Agree entirely, won't make the parting any easier though. It will be a sad day when the last of them walk through the door.

Bunch of lazy millionaires who couldn't care less who is managing them. A small work ethic. An attitude of having a laugh in training with no one taking responsibility for wanting to know what being a winner is about. Pushed of the ball very easily...no fight...no aggression...no heart...no pride...it can't be the manager as these players acted the same under Mancini. You can see they don't mind losing so for me the club are buying players with the wrong mental attitude.

Lol

Proof that we are all sheep

Sterling (waste of money, must improve, technically useless): 1 goal every 3.5 appearances in possibly the worst city team over the last five years
Silva, Nasri: 1 every 6-7 appearances
Navas: 1 every 15 appearances
And just for context, "best young player ever" martial: 1 every 3.5
Walcott: 1 every 3 (a lot of them as striker)

And a high proportion of goals in the CL where he is the one key reason why city are well poised and might progress further than any of our campaigns and any of the English teams this year

And he has a tremendous work rate, more than any of these other players on this list

And he has contributed a fair share of assists - don't forget he has at least 2-3 clear penalties turned down.

And his sheer pace is a huge asset, opening up space for others.

And he is 21.

But the media wants to project him as a failure because he dared to move to little city.
And like morons we will accept what we are told and turn on one of the best, most tenacious players in our squad with huge potential.
Sheep.
