"You're the one for me, Barry"

Hear, hear! Good article.

It's noticeable that we never heard him bleating to the press about not playing, which is a testament to his professionalism.

An unsung hero for City and a consummate professional. His absence will be sorely missed. A player that was always in the right place at the right time.

All the best Gaz.

Criminally underrated player. I always thought he was more appreciated by Blues who went to watch the games. It was only by watching him at the stadium you could understand how much he contributed.

He played a key role in winning the FA Cup (superb against United in the semi) and the Prem. For that reason I will always be grateful.

A good write up Ric.

If I wrote this on the Forum once, I wrote it fifty times.

"When Barry plays well, City play well".

I wish him well.

Amongst the things for which I will remember GazBaz was the tackle on Ivanovic late on in the game at The Etihad. A tackle as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar, it made ripples on the Ashton Canal!

Good luck, Gareth. I appreciated yer. I think my renegade Evertonian son is beginning to warm to the idea that the craft you bring to a game is what he will appreciate too.

We'd recorded that particular Chelsea game on Sky+ and watched that tackle over and over again when we got home from the match. Ivanovic's face goes from determination to win the ball, to an anxious look of 'this might hurt a bit' to the sort of look you'd get if you ran into a huge oak tree at full pelt. Barry just stood his ground and Ivanovic bounced off him.

I'm absolutely gutted he's left, my favourite player from the past 5 years without question, possibly ever. I wish him all the best at Everton and wherever he may go after that, although I'd imagine they'll sign him up next summer. I just hope he returns to play us again one day as a standing ovation is the least he deserves.

One of the best Premier League performers in the team in 2011-12. Instrumental in us winning the title. For that Barry will always be remembered fondly at City!

Respect to one of the most underrated players of his generation.

Give it three or four games and we'll see Everton fans saying "blimey, isn't Barry a good player?!". That's about his level now though, he never played well for us in Europe and was playing with high quality performances a lot less frequently for us last season. At Everton there won't be that expectation where they have to win every game and i think that will suit Barry as he reaches the Winter of his career.

Top man GazBaz! all the best...

Thank god he is gone we need to be more dynamic in European games on a whole. Also in some of the bigger games at times he was shown up. He done well at the club and I was shocked to see him last for as long as he did. Different manager different style of play and different players.

Really, against who?

I'd have counted United away last year one of the bigger games and he absolutely ran the show?

The one person who will really miss Gaz Bazz will be David Silva.
His game improved immensely whenever Barry played alongside him . I know David wanted him as his player of the year.
Let's see how David fairs without Gareth around - I hope he can still do the business.

City will miss Barry a lot but I hope he does the job on all those opposition teams as he has done so well at City and we profit from that
