"You're the one for me, Barry"

A very good article, though I agree the dig at Garcia was unnecessary.

Unless you actually go to matches, you will not have seen the work that Gareth Barry did for us.

Even though he was in the final year of his contract at Villa, the £12 million we paid for his services was a bargain, IMHO. Without him protecting the back four, I believe we would have won neither the FA Cup nor the Premier League.

Gareth was a model professional, who never moaned, but just got on with what he was good at.

Good luck for the rest of your career, Gareth, and thank you for all you did for Manchester City.

Thank you Gareth. It annoys me when you get fans of other clubs who slate him. He has been tremendous for city since he joined and had FA Cup and premier league winning medals to show for it. He reads the game very well and dictates the tempo. He deserves to be playing every week and doesn't appear to be in pellegrini's plans.

Good luck and thank you!

Good servant for the club very underrated as a footballer if he had pace would be worth a fortune, he had a good footballing brain and I hope he isn`t missed but I`m not to sure.

Yep, good luck to Gareth Barry. Total professional and at the price a bargain signing. I fear this loan/transfer is a mistake.

Thank god he is gone we need to be more dynamic in European games on a whole. Also in some of the bigger games at times he was shown up. He done well at the club and I was shocked to see him last for as long as he did. Different manager different style of play and different players.

I'll always remember a sky sport rag at work saying we'd never win anything with Gareth Barry in our team. This was the same bloke who insisted that Owen Hargreaves was a world beater when he joined that lot!

Self same daft rag tit got married the day we won the cup so I couldn't rub it in then cos I was on my way back from Wembley and his phone wasn't 'working'.
Twelve months later and boy did I let him have both barrels! His face was a picture, personally up there for me with that munter at Sunderland clapping until she found out Sergio had scored. He had no comeback whatsoever - pure gold!

A few have said on here that only fans of the clubs he's played for really appreciate him, and that's true. It also shows what a classless bunch of nobs the villa fans are in that they always booed him.

His performances were never back page headlines, but, I bet his average for City out of 10 overall would be 7.5 easily. Every team needs a Gareth Barry.

Wish he hadn't gone to that bunch of bin dippers though.

Good Luck to Gaz Baz.

A BIG THANKS Gareth Barry you in my opinion was one of our unsung hero,s never got the plaudits you deserved, sad to see you go and you served our club in the best possible manner. Best of luck in the future.

Looking at the Everton Forums they are not impressed.

Give it a month and the matchday goers will appreciate and adore him, the MOTD viewers will still hate him.

I've said it before he reminds of having internet security on a laptop. You think it's doing fuck all until you don't have it and everything goes tits up.

Mint post ric just want to ( and feel its my duty to add) when Garcia gets picked ahead of you fcuk this
