Re: Laptop to Tv
For XP > right click your desktop > choose properties > click appearance and themes then click display. On the settings tab click Identify, that will show you which monitor corresponds to which display (your laptop screen being one, and the tv being the other). You can then choose to make either display the Primary, or to extend teh Windows desktop whichever way works for you best.
Vista > right click desktop > Personalise > Display Settings > then same as XP, choose main monitor or extend the desktop onto this monitor.
***note most laptops have a 'hot key' usually one of the F keys. It is different for each manufacturer and I'm not sure which one yours is, but basically when you press it and the FN button at the same time is switches output from the laptop to an external monitor or TV. You may find that easier to do.***
