Yugoslavia football team

Yugoslavia were always a very good side before the split. Since then Croatia have been the most successful but, as has been said, combining the talents now would produce a very good team. Just like Yugoslavia used to be.

I don't really understand how can someone put Berbatov in Yugoslavia team. Geography lessons skipped ?

There is only one IVICA OSIM! (too bad he's ill now)

Radomir Antic :)))

---------Handanovic--------
Srna-Vidic-Ivanovic-Spahic
-------Modric-Stankovic----
----Krasic--Pjanic--Salihovic
------------Dzeko----------

Bench: Begovic, Subotic, Lovren, Kranjcar, Kolarov, Misimovic, Jovetic, Vucinic.

Coach: byronic

Everyone forgets Lorik Cana, who was actually born in Pristina and is probably the best pure #6 from the region. For me the first-choice XI would be:

Džeko
Vučinić Modrić Krašić
Salihović Cana
Kolarov Vidić Ivanović Srna
Handanović

After Cana, Salihović is the one most people would disagree with, but he's one of the best free kick takers in the world right now. Also, he plays well in a more defensive role, which can't necessarily be said of some of the more offensive-minded players people usually bring up in these kinds of things.

On paper it'd be one of the strongest teams in the world, but Yugoslavia always had great players and yet it never won a major tournament. It's impossible to predict.

Even if it were possible, I doubt it would work practically.

I'm sure there is still too much animosity, even all these years after the civil wars.

Perhaps not among the players, but certainly among the citizens of the individual countries.

A mate was doing something for uni on Yugoslavia and its down fall and was telling me about it. From what i can remember the countries that were left after its downfall was

1. Slovenia
2. Croatia
3. Montenegro
4. Kosovo
5. Macedonia
6. Serbia
7. Bosnia

Now i typically turned this into a football thing and was thinking they'd have a pretty good team now if Yugoslavia didn't fall.

The question is can you pick a Yugoslavia 11?

Yugoslavia had a decent team long before they thought to kick the shit out of each other!
