Zabaleta Apprecation

He was poor tonight and the way he stood and watched for that 2nd goal ( after the Clichy stupid hack to their guy) was weird. All he had to do was recognise a player was free a couple of yards to hi right and they don't score but he just stood there and watched it happen. That sort of thing was happening all over the place with players juyst not doing the simple things they are supposed to do.
 
He's poor pretty much the whole season. Just as anybody else except Aguero and Milner, and maybe Hart. Kompany at times defends like amateur.

The whole defensive unit (whichever 4 are out on the pitch) have been piss poor all season. From being one of (if not the best) defences in the league a year or two back, we're now leaking goals.

I agree, unfair to single out just one player. Collectively the defence has been incredibly poor. It is uncharacteristic of the group of players. I dont understand what has changed.
 
Silly thing is that in Premier League we share second best defensive record with Chelsea and Swansea, only Southampton better, by some. It doesn't look so, it looks much worse then number of goals we conceded.
 
Much as I like Zab, the 2nd goal by Doumbia was wholly Zab's fault. He was caught ball watching in centre of the box to allow Dzoumbia to elude him on the right to score.
 
The man has been run into the ground for the last two seasons and went all the way in the World Cup. He had to play game after game because Richards and Boyata were too poor and, when we did finally find a replacement in Sagna, he has so far not been up to the mark.

It's the most draining position on the pitch, and before questioning his performances, people should question the buyers and manager about why they failed to find a suitable alternative two years ago.
 
As said very poor tonight and not been good all season.
Seems like his fight n desire has gone at the moment. One thing with players like zab is he's never been the most skilful but his desire and work rate were second to nonenone and made him an outstanding defender.
This season his confidence looks shot to pieces and he's a shadow of his former self both in his defending and his forward play
