Zabaleta Out? Right back discussion {merged}

Re: Zabaleta Out?

Pulled up haring after a ridiculously ambitious, and overhit, crossfield ball from Dzeko, who had men free ahead of him. I love Zabaleta's enthusiasm, but that whole incident seemed so, so avoidable.

Maybe, just maybe, we could play a young right back rather than playing someone out of position. Shay Facey or Pablo Maffeo are 2 candidates.

Prefer that to buying another one in. Bring another in and Micah will be off (assuming he's ever fit again)

Micah will be off anyway. Surely we won't be offering him a long term deal

I'd love to see this against Fulham. It would be kamikaze to play Clichy at right back, he is only adequate at left back.

Re: Zabaleta Out?

Don't blame the manager or the medical staff. No-one can predict an injury. It's just bad luck. Let's just hope it's a minor injury. But anything that's pulled will be three weeks at least.

What's really bad luck is the injuries seem to happen to the players that are hardly replaceble: Kompany, Silva, Aguerro, now Zabaleta.

If Zabaleta is out, I would definitely play Milner at RB. He played it a few times and I thought he did pretty well.

Fingers crossed ...

Milner At Right Back

While Zaba's out...

Only reliable option for me. I like Boyata and would like to see him get back to form, but I'm not sure this is the time.

?

RB: Milner, Boyata or Other?

With Richards (perennially) out, and Zaba now looking like he'll be spending at least the Christmas period on the sidelines, who takes over at RB?

I'd be inclined toward Milner for his workrate, resilience and reliability, but would we want to lose his drive from midfield?

Is it time to give Boyata an extended go and see what he's made of? He's tall, strong and mobile, and when called upon recently he's done alright. He was considered a bright young talent and is still young at 23.

Are there other options? Discuss.
