My mate whose originally from darn sarf and used to play for the Palace youth side (didn't make the last crop unfortunately, he's 19 now so made some lasting friendships) has just heard from a mate that a young Mr Zaha is set to depart in the summer to Spurs. Anyone else think we should hijack this deal? Apparently (training ground rumours) it's a firm £8,000,000 which has the potential to rise to £10,000,000 with appearances and what not. He's impressed me a lot this year, I guess if we don't hijack it then I can giggle at a rag mate who has a crush on him and believes he's going to the scum. Putting my money on it when I go to town later.

Seeing as we have already rejected an 8mill bid in January i doubt this is true.

Player power bud unfortunately, he's a young lad and it's Tottenham (no disrespect to Palace but he's seeing $ AND training with the likes of Bale can only be good for him). Every so often it keeps popping up on his wiki page and then removed which is interesting, matches up with the fact that the clubs are trying to keep it hush till summer to not let it distract anything.

Not saying he wont go but if he does it will for a lot more then 10million.

Probably right there and I hope it is for Palaces sake, like I said the fee is only training ground murmurs between the younger lads. It'll be hard to see him go and 'sit on the bench' or 'rot in the reserves' however (and like I said, this is honestly no disrespect to Palace) Tottenham will clearly have better training facilities for him to train with. And let's not even get in to the Defoe/'Arry debate... if 'Arry is still there then he'll no doubt be ahead of Defoe.

But doesn't he enter the last twelve months of his contract during the summer?

That makes Spurs' and the player's position stronger and weakens Palace's bargaining position.

Frankly, I don't know what the fuss is about, but what's new about Spurs spunking £8m on shite?

He signed a new 5 1/2 year deal in December.

'triffic little player *twitch* see if the chairman can do a deal *twitch* dunno about his wages though *twitch* [insert generic joke about Sandra to let the press and UEFA know I'm just a cheeky wheeler-dealer and not tapping-up] *twitch*

Spurs? Really? From what I've seen of him he's a low level Premier League or top of the Championship level player.

Recently I'd say our spendings been pretty good, even some of the transfers that haven't worked out we've seen the majority of the money coming back ie Crouch Palacios Pav Hutton.

Can't really Zaha coming to us though. Admittedly I haven't watched a huge amount of Crystal Palace either but I think there'd be much better players for us to be in for.

It appears he will be your big summer signing.

Like I said, the move wouldn't really make sense to me and we aren't exactly pally with Palace transfer dealings wise, can't see it happening. But if it does then I wouldn't complain, our lower league experiments have done pretty well so far considering how much we've paid for them, ie Lennon Dawson Huddlestone and even Rose to an extent. A shame injury issues seem to holding them back at the moment.

Should be an interesting summer transfer wise whatever happens though

I liked what I saw of Rose in the first FA cup game v Stevenage.
Not sure of your situation re Palace dealings. If you do pull it of, do you think he would fit into your side? Who plays a similar role at the moment for you?

Rose needs a season out on loan in the premiership a la Caulker or Naughton to prove himself but there's definitely potential, he always looks like he gives a shit as well, which astoundingly is often a trait rarely found in footballers.

The Palace dealings was a reference to the John Bostock saga, it wasn't that we went against the rules, as far as I understand it was that the rules weren't particularly fair, and as it stands neither party has really benefitted from the move so far but the young lads fortunes may change yet, who knows.

Zaha seems like a player who wouldn't really be able to cope with being a winger in a 4-4-2 due to the constant pressure and defensive work, seems like more of a 4-3-3 kind of guy to me, and we already have a young right-sided talented youngster who is more than capable of playing that position in Gio Dos Santos, but he's not good enough to warrant a change in formation and I doubt Zaha will be anytime soon either but as I've said, haven't seen a massive amount of the lad to be honest.
