I was born in SA & we moved to Zimbabwe when I was 2. As soon as they announced that there was going to be "free" elections my mother & father decided it was time to leave. Anyone who thinks Mugabe was nothing but evil before he was in power is wrong. My dad predicted he would win at the time and that the whole country would turn to s5it within 10 years. If any of the other 2 candidates had won that 1st election who can tell what would have happened but I personally think things would have been a lot different.

My mam still has friends in SA & basically what has been said above is true. If you have any sort of money or wealth at all you need to hire security or risk being murdered irrespective of race.

Yep my mate has left SA he went to visit his mum as his nanna passed. It's the pits you have to have big guard dogs just to give you time to defend yourself when they break in. They kill the dogs but by then you should hopefully have your gun aimed at them. And yes the killing involves rape and torture. The whole place needs to start over as it is a wonderful terrain ruined.

I used to live in London was burgled and mugged, Copenhagen, Hells Angels fired rocket launchers off my buildings roof into a rival gangs head quarters, was broken into a couple of times.

With respect, the Western Cape is not Limpopo where my family still owns and operates a game farm about 50km outside of Tzaneen. In the last 5 years both neighboring farms have been invaded by land claimants and both farmers shot dead.

We lived for 5 years literally behind trellidor and never knowing if an attack would come and every single second of your working day in and around the farm was centered on your own and your families security.

In 2012 we said enough was enough and came back home, quickly followed by my wifes Mother who shortly after we left was informed of a death threat made against her.

Farmers are literally being murdered for their lands.

Sorry to hear that, I know it happens, but the whole country hasn't quite gone to the dogs yet. I know there are issues but I would still rather bring my kids up here than some of the places i have lived in the Uk. Of course WC isn't Limpopo and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next elections, ANC really have lost the people, EFF will start to pick up some of the rural spots and DA will move into KZN where ANC have never been loved especially now Zuma has gone. Tshwane is the key.

At night the safest way to walk home was for him to walk down the middle of the road, so you could see if anyone was trying to sneak up on you. The stories he has are mind blowing, and isn't it the rape capital of the world?

to be fair it was the same for me walking over Langley estate in Middleton in the late 70's early 80's - walk where you could see your assailants coming.
