I know its a 50/50 whether its a transfer article or not but i was just wondering with all this speculation running around about ibra coming due to barca close to signing villa. Can anyone tell me how Mancini and Ibra's relationship was together, only i got told today of a freind that Ibra claimed "he is like a dad to me" or something? Thanks just wondered.

Sure it was Balotelli who said he was a father figure
But Mancini got the best out of Ibra, been looking at stories about them and it seems they have a very good and close realtionship(not in a pique kind of way tho!!)

Quotes about Mancini from Ibra:

He was quoted as saying in Corriere Dello Sport: “I think that City has understood that they cannot become Barcelona or Inter overnight.

“A lot of time is needed, but also the right man at the helm.

“‘Mancio’ will change the mentality of the club because he is a great coach, and the players will realise it soon enough.

“Only the great coaches are able to guide the great players.

“If they see a weak boss, who has never managed a top club, they can take advantage of him.

“It has nothing to with not respecting Mark Hughes, but City needed a coach that knows how to turn a team into a great one,” added Ibrahimovic.

If Mourinho is more of a disciplinarian coach, then Ibrahimovic sees Mancini as much more of a players' coach.

"Oh, he's a footballer's coach. He was a fantastic player himself. He can express himself in more of a football way, in a more active way. Very much like Guardiola can. What I mean by that is that he can actually go out and show the moves himself that he wants his players to do. You know Manchester City are learning as well. They are not a top team yet. I think both Mancini and Manchester City can develop together and become big together and make it a winning team."

"Mancini is more of a football playing coach, he was a fantastic player in his day, he can express himself in more of the football way like Guardiola, I've played under Capello and Mourinho but none of them play the level of football like Mancini and Guardiola play but as long as you are winning it doesn't matter what kind of football you play as long as you win"

Sounds like a smart boy. With the 'Fabregas to Barca' story heating up tonight, looks more and more like Ibra could be with us next season.

Maybe, but would you completely rule out a Fabregas for Ibra swap?? Barca will have to make room if Villa does sign, Arsenal have singed chamakh but might think that Ibra has more to offer than Bentner, this one swap deal could seriously upgrade their attacking options for next year.

I wouldn't rule it out, but I suspect Wenger would rather have the cash to shore up his midfield, given that Fab pretty much carries them. Same for Barca - presumably cash is king, given the amount they are going to be shelling out this summer.

I'm absolutely convinced we're going to sign him. Never sure what to make of him, he seems to be brilliant and dreadful in equal measures from what I have seen over the years.
