United thread 2017/18

It's funny how so many fans of the usual suspects would prefer never to discuss or even acknowledge the numerous times in their history that their teams were utter dogshit yet us blues love to talk about being the only team to get relegated the season after winning the title, and more recently revel in those halcyon days of the late-90's when we were hopelessly tumbling down to the 3rd tier of English football. That 1998/99 season was one of my favourite ever for following City - watching us on shit loads of grounds where I'd never seen us play before, legendary piss-ups throughout the season (some of them lasting 3 days), York away (if you weren't there, I'll tell you all about it one day), and a season-ending finale that even we'd have struggled to dream up. Even the season before - which for me was arguably the most miserable in our history - was a blast off the pitch.

Sorry but Liverpool never received a penny from the Moores it all went to Everton. United only received a couple of quid at fund raising events. All their money is self generated.

The biggest myth in football is that United's money is self generated.

As if they weren't exploiting the Munich air disaster for profit, turning the club into a PLC and a 'brand', whoring themselves out for sponsorship and corporate ensorcelling immediately before, during and after (Yes, even now with your fucking noodle sponsorships and oil sponsorships and the like) their most successful periods.

It's a joke that the blithering morons who follow them, beguiled as they are by vicarious glory, swallow that (and let's not mince words) outright lie.

OK. Try Old Trafford is always full even when there is no game on and Sir Alex has never done Poo Poo's.
Met a female client for the first time tonight. Said she was a united fan, I asked Ho often she managed to go when in the UK and got “I’m a united member but it’s just impossible to get a ticket so I’ve not been able to get to a game yet”.

both clubs defenitly generate ****s

Yes, very much so. And FC United. But Liverpool are next on the list.

These are generlaisations but are the things that stick out most from both sets of fans more than any other clubs. United fans have a stinking arrogance that nobody else has but Liverpool fans have this deluded blinkered outlook on their club to the point where they're like a cult. It's like your heads are in the clouds and LFC are up there dancing around in the clouds with the fans above everyone else. Nobody could ever say a bad word about LFC because nobody in the cult would believe it. Rags have a more evil bitter twisted arrogance about them than delusion. They are horrible ****s!

Neither set of fans understand that their football clubs and fanbases are no more special than Rochdale's or Tranmere's. No club is special. No fans are special. Every club is just another football club. Some seem to get some good fortune with money and then trophies (because one has always followed the other from day one in football back in the 1800s and has never and will never be any different. Rags and Liverpool fans don't understand that neither) but Liverpool and then United just happened to win more things when money was growing massively in the game so could sustain more title challenges and cup runs than other clubs had managed in the past. That's the one and only thing that separates the Rags and Liverpool from the rest of the clubs, nowt else at all. Just good timing with money flooding into the game and just getting the right manager to fit in with that there and then.

Both sets of fans - Arsenal fans too - seem to think that the way clubs like City and Chelsea have won trophies is the "wrong" way or in an "unethical" way. But in reality no club in England has ever won anything without huge investment first. Doesn't matter where that comes from, local business/global business, it's the same principle for everyone; success from investment. Tell that to a Rag, Liverpool fan or Arsenal fan. Christ they won't have it. "sugardaddy" "oil money" "won the lottery" but so did the Rags with Henry Davies and James Gibson, so did Arsenal with Herbert Chapman so did Liverpool with the Moores.

Neither set of fans seem to grasp history outside the years when they were successful neither. They don't ever seem to understand that they were as shit as any bottom half Championship side are currently. That at the time they were at their lowest, clubs like City and Chelsea were winning titles and cups and pulling in crowds over 80000. It's just that back then there wasn't the prize money, television money or sponsorship that was seen from the 1970s onwards and upwards.
What a great post. The irony of course is that for a while we had a half decent relationship with them (post Stanley knife era) because of our mutual hatred of United. The problem is that as Liverpool have declined they have become very bitter and taken out their bitterness on clubs like City. Their attitude towards our owners is essentially racist.

But Dippers are such witty likeable characters - I think you must be confusing them with somebody else
