It's quiet... summer 2018.

Baring in mind how good Maffeo has been in Spain, i suspect he will by Walkers understudy next season. Danilo may leave as a result.
At left back I think Delph has earned his spot in the squad as reserve left back/DM. Maybe a young left back/wing back bought but left where he is for the season (e.g. Seggerson @Fulham)
No changes at CH.
Possibly a replacement of reserve GK with Bravo probably on his way.
Jorjingho to replace Ya Ya and rotate with Fernandinho + also to provide a double pivot in games against Liverpool.
AM - no changes even if Isco is available. Silva will play less games with Foden rotated in more. Jesus and Bernardo can also play here as well as on the right. (Note: Bernardo will be a fecking star next season.)
We need an alternate pace merchant for Sane/Sterling - Diaz may come good but I'm coming round to the idea today that Marhez is the man (I have been persuaded).
Most importantly we need a grade one top of the pile striker. We badly missed Aguero against Liverpool in the CL. Griezeman fits the bill, but looks like he's Barca bound this summer. this could be a problem as Mbappe would be even better as he can play anywhere across the front line and solves the ALT wide pace man problem too. Leon Baily at Bayer Leverkuseen keeps getting linked but for me he isn't lethal enough - we need the best to move forward.

Does Jorginho rotate in Fernandinho's role though? I haven't seen much of him but if other's are comparing him more to Gundogan then are we really addressing the need to find equivalent cover for Dinho and what he does or is another player capable of getting more minutes than Yaya enough?

As for the forward position, I know it's unlikely, but with a year left on his deal and potentially wanting out I would make an inquiry at least for Martial. I like Mahrez too but unsure of how he'd cope playing through the middle.
I was just guessing as to the names or players for the purposes of showing how 12 will be enough.

I personally don't think we need a tackling DM. Yes, in my estimation Jorghino is a cross between Gundogan and Pizzaro (to use 2 players that have played for City).

I think that kind of player can play DM for us. The key to our defense is possession. Dihno has done a fantastic job merging the tackling with the possession. Someone slightly less defensive and slightly better with his vision, field awareness and passing, could probably play the same role as efficiently as Dihno does.

Especially if the 'press' is on. Which it should be at all times if we have 12 players for 6 positions.

As for the forward, I'm okay with a vast # of players. Outside of Mbappe who I think is a cut above, there is a huge list of players I'd find acceptable as the 6th forward.

Griezmann, Costa, Dybala, Rashford, Martial, Mahrez, Werner, Zaha, Bailey, Kluviert , Bernard etc. We just need someone at a similar level to the guys we have.

And I think all the guys above are. Some slightly better others slightly worse.

How do others feel about the reports of us bringing in just 2 players?
Good. The only problem I see is LB situation: Mendy+Delph combo is an insufficient cover for the position as both are injury-prone (Zinchenko has turned 21, there's no squad place for him). So either Bravo goes to accomodate Zinchenko, or we're replacing both Zinny and Delph by someone reliable like Bertrand.

Or Angelino, I've not seen him this season but seems to be doing pretty well in Holland and would be a more like for like cover for Mendy, and mean Delph could stay.
