Kroos did. Passed it well and kept it moving. But the penetration came from Modric, the steel came from Casemiro, skull and explosiveness Isco and Kovacic. James has an it factor. Kroos often strikes me as status quo. Keeps you from falling below where you already are, but doesn't elevate you. That has been my impression, whwn I watch him. A technically supreme footballer. But brings almost no energy to the table.

Only worry is there's not much defensive cover with just him and Gundogan, unless we add a top DM or go with a three with Dinho in there.
