Plane crash - Chapecoense FC - Awarded Copa Sudamericana - first game back today. P25

Ancient perhaps over stating it, coming from someone who flew on a Dan Air Comet, and spent 12 years as part of the Vulcan to the sky team, but I think you know what I was getting at. Were City flying to Champions League games on this aircraft I am bloody sure several on here would have long since brought it up?

The 146`s of the Queens Flight have been in service since 1986 but they're probably getting to the end of their useful life.

The fact is that the RJ/146 is a sturdy reliable jet is not an issue, and it looks very much like in this case the aircraft was not at fault.

Those arses may well twitch in the absence of the deceased owner of the operator, I suspect they will still want to hang a few out to dry and rightly so.
Maybe I'm being a bit defensive of the aircraft due to being involved in the design, but this is only the third Avro RJ fatal accident and in both previous cases the aircraft itself was not at fault. There's no reason why anyone should have any concerns about flying on this type themselves or if the City team were to use it. It's no less safe than any other aircraft and safer than many.

Absolutely agree with you regarding the safety of the 146, in terms of safety the age of an aircraft is as we know not often a factor if maintained and operated correctly. You could say often the opposite given just about every possible glitch will have been long since cropped up and been dealt with, not always so with a new aircraft.

If City choose to be flown in the BBMF Lanc I would have no fears for their safety, though I can see why it may not be the sensible choice of aircraft to some Champions league destinations from a PR point of view. I think its fair to say that this outfit in South America would not be the type of aircraft operator the Sheikh would employ to carry his very expensive footballers around the world.

I doubt he will be too pleased to hear that one or two of them have been flown about by this company.

The article in yesterday's mail stated that the Argentine national team had used it for the recent match against Brazil.
There was a picture of the plane with Argentina logo on it

Oh I don't know. As long as it had it's fighter escorts it would look absolutely magnificent. A hero's welcome in Paris, straight over the Arc de Triomphe and down the Champs Elysees. Can't say the same about Munich or Dortmund, though. (Although if we don't mention the war, we may get away with it.)

Nothing wrong with the jet.
As I said the other day, they ran out of fuel.
I gave refresher training to the pilot plus 4 others about 3/4 years ago since when they have done their own training using our sim.
This was a planning issue + emergency of another aircraft + poor decision making by the crew.

Dinho said today he knew 2 of those who were killed, one was his manager when he first started playing and the other he knew fron the Brazil team,he is really cut up bless him

The more thats coming out about this dreadful affair the more it seems likely staggering stupidity will be just the tip of the iceberg. This surely will be rightly treated as nothing less than a criminal loss of life.

Shows how much such a tragedy can affect some. Wouldn't be surprised if Pep leaves him out on Saturday to grieve. I'd respect that decision as there's more important things than a game in these circumstances.
